2026 Suzanne Cutler Teen Writing Contest June 8th - August 3rd The Annual Suzanne Cutler Teen Creative Writing Contest is back! Individuals ages 12-18 by August 31, 2026 are invited to create an original short story or poem. Prizes will be awarded for each type of submission and each age group. Winners will receive a published copy of the works submitted.

Sensory Friendly Ice Cream & Dance Party Thursday, June 4th 3:00-4:00pm Let's celebrate the end of the year with friends by having an ice-cream dance party! We'll enjoy our sweet treats and then jam out with some of our favorite tunes. This special event is held later than normal so we can dance the night away! Registration is required. This program is designed for teens and accompanying adults/caregivers. Please plan to attend and be engaged with your teen for this program! Drop offs will not be permitted. Presented in partnership with Bernards PEC and the Mayor's Wellness Campaign.

After-Hours Teen Advisory Board Meeting Friday, June 5th 6:00-7:00pm Teen Advisory Board is a group of teens who participate in and influence the functioning of the Library, especially for teen programming and Library materials. TAB is a forum to have your opinions and suggestions heard. It is also an opportunity for additional volunteer hours. New members always welcome! Teen programs are for individuals in grades 7-12. TAB Meetings are now after-hours. Doors will open for TAB at 5:45pm. Please arrange transportation accordingly as teens will not be allowed to stay in the building after the meeting is over.

VIRTUAL Before Your First Car Wednesday, June 10th 7:00-8:00pm Calling all teens and young adults! Want to prepare for car ownership or driving success? This class focuses on understanding what your car is trying to tell you, starting with dash light recognition and responding to that, when your car should be towed instead of driven, and basic preventative maintenance everyone should know how to do. It's a great starting point for a life long educated consumer.

Teen: Transformed Textile Club Sock Animal Keychains Thursday, June 11th 7:00-8:00pm J oin our Transformed Textile Club this summer for a series of activities that encourages teens upcycle, or to re-use and re-purpose old clothing items rather than buy new.At our first meeting, use old fuzzy socks to create sock animal keychains! McKenna Graf and the Archive of Adolescnece Saturday, June 13th 10:30-11:30am What's Left?, the final work in local author and SCWC alum McKenna Graf's four year series, is publishing today and you're invited to the book launch! Join McKenna for a museum-style interactive experience looking at all of the books she has written so far and her inspirations. We'll also watch her short film, which doubles as a reading for her new book. She'll be available for any questions you may have! For teens and adults.

Teen Craft: String Lanterns Wednesday, June 24th 7:00-8:00pm Join us in the teen room for this month's craft, where we will use string, balloons, and clue to create string lanterns. Place a tealight inside, braid or apply dried flowers, and leave on any surface/hang from the roof for a perfect boho accessory.

Mind n Mingle: Tie Dye Thursday, June 25th 2:00-3:00pm Back by popular demand, it's tie dye day! Bring a white or light colored garment with you (cotton works best) and the library will provide the rest. Meet the Teen Librarian out front for a tie dye tutorial and make your own masterpiece. Rain Date: 6/30. If it rains both days, the Teen Librarian will be in touch about rescheduling.
