Investing 101: Simples Strategies to Get Started in the World of Investing

Money Smart Week will be celebrated at Bernards Township Library on Friday, April 8, 2011 at 12 noon.  Local investors of any experience level are invited to attend a free webinar, Investing 101:  Simple Strategies to Get Started in the World of Investing which will showcase Morningstar®Investment Research Center.

Suitable for those who are saving for retirement, college or a new home, this webinar will present ideas on how to invest wisely in today’s economy and familiarize attendees with Morningstar®’s comprehensive online investing database.  Senior Reference Librarian, Lynne Hilf, will host this webinar presented by Morningstar®’s Markets Editor,  Jeremy Glaser.
Anyone may use Morningstar®Investment Research Center  at the computers in the Library.  Those with a Bernards Township Library card can use it from home through the library’s website at

The meeting will be held from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. in the Bernards Township Library Program Room B located on the lower level.  All are welcome at this FREE program.  Register online using the Program Calendar at to receive a reminder email a few days before the program, or call the reference desk at 908-204-3031 ext. 4.

To show our appreciation to all the Library patrons, the Library is offering a FREE raffle during the month of April.  Choose among decorative bundles and baskets of donated items. Enter one raffle ticket each visit to the Library.  Please write on the raffle ticket:

Computer Classes for Job Seekers

Classes for job seekers who wish to improve their computer and job search skills will be offered at Bernards Township Library in late April and May.  The classes will focus on the basic computer skills needed by every job applicant today in order to make them more confident and self sufficient.

Classes will be held in Program Room B on the Lower level at Bernards Township Library (32 South Maple Avenue, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920) from 9:30AM - 1:30PM on Tuesdays as follows:

-        Internet Explorer: April 26
-        Email: May 10
-        Microsoft Windows: May 17
-        Microsoft Word: May 24

All courses will be delivered at a basic user level, last 4 hours and built around workforce development skills. 

This training is sponsored as part of the New Jersey State Library’s Broadband Opportunity Program (BTOP) in collaboration with Raritan Valley Community College and Bernards Township Library.
