Did you wonder why you haven't heard from me lately? The addition to my family of an adorable fourth grandson on September 7 has had me running. I'll have some pictures to share at this next meeting. Hope you will come and see! The Family History Interest Group (FHIG) at Bernards Township Library aims to inform, inspire and encourage you as you seek ways to learn about the life, loves and relationships of past family members. This newsletter is the very best place to find information about upcoming and past FHIG meetings, news and notes about related topics, and ideas, tips and suggestions for your own successful genealogy searches. -- Ruth

with Russ Worthington Tuesday, September 25 Have you ever found that a genealogy website you used in the past seems to have mysteriously disappeared? Have you been left wondering when a site you thought you were familiar with suddenly seems a little different? Join us as Russ Worthington presents a case-study detailing what he did when he discovered that a number of his online resources were no longer there and he had conflicting or missing information that he needed to locate. Learn how he chose to handle it and what benefit he found. If you've had similar experiences there’ll be an opportunity for discussion at this meeting.

About Russ Worthington
Russ is well known to FHIG audiences, and in the wider genealogy world - often addressed as " Cousin Russ" whether a real cousin (as he is to DearMYRTLE) or not. Worthington started ‘collecting his ancestors’ around 20 years back and has since traveled from Maryland to Maine visiting cemeteries and archives, finding cousins and headstones, and taking photographs in search of family history information. As DearMYRTLE describes him, "he's a Family Tree Maker expert from waaaay back and also a serious “original documents” family history researcher, a student of genealogical methodology, a Find-A-Grave volunteer, a public speaker and a technology expert." We at FHIG know him to be all that and more . . . FHIG participants have been fortunate to hear his insights and have his guidance in using today's genealogy tools with success. | |

A word to all who listen and view:

who Judy Russell, highly esteemed as The Legal Genealogist, recently posted a very direct and pertinent reminder for all of us attend workshops and presentations. Her post, and the commentary that follows, is of great importance. Technology makes it all too easy for us to become unmannerly and even act illegally. Just don't do it!
