VOLUNTEER AT THE LIBRARY
Volunteers Needed

Enrich your Library experience by becoming a volunteer! We are always looking for adults and teens to help with programs, scan local history documents, assemble craft kits, and more.

In addition, DiscoveryWorks offers a special volunteer opportunity through its Ambassador program, which helps enhance our visitor experiences through exhibit interpretation, sharing our story, and fostering a more in-depth appreciation for DiscoveryWorks' programs, services, and activities. Ambassadors also play a crucial role in creating a welcoming atmosphere, facilitating educational experiences, and promoting lifelong learning for all DiscoveryWorks explorers.

Kodak Slide Projector

Enjoy a trip down memory lane! Pull your boxes of 35mm slides out, dim the lights, and treat the family to all the highlights from years gone by. Check out the Kodak Slide Projector from our Library of Things, which includes the projector, slide tray lens, remote control, instruction manual, and necessary cords in a handy carrying case.

Ion Omni Slide Scanner

Once you’ve taken that trip down memory lane with the projector, then you can pass those slides through our Slide Scanner! That way, you can share those memories with all generations of your family and friends, turn them into printed images, or generate slide shows or other digital media products with the scanned images. Will scan all color or monochrome 35mm negatives and mounted slides. Converts images to digital JPEG files.

DID YOU KNOW?
That the Library has a large format scanner?

The Library's large format scanner (17" x 23") can digitize documents, maps, books, photos, artwork, and other items. It’s located near the Information Desk, and our staff and volunteers use it to scan documents on behalf of the city and other community organizations. For example, we’ve been digitizing school board minutes and city directories, yearbooks and board meeting minutes from before they were taped and televised. To volunteer to work with the scanner to digitize community documents, click on the "Learn More" button below.

The scanner is also available for patron use by appointment. It's quick, easy to use, and provides high quality images in color and black and white. This is an excellent way to preserve your irreplaceable family history materials. To find out more and to make an appointment, call the Information Desk at 440.933.8127.
