Dear Friends of the Henderson County Public Library,
You may be aware that the Henderson County Public Library (HCPL) has initiated a strategic planning process, and I wanted to provide you with an update on our progress. To begin, I would like to thank our steering committee which includes Rev. Eric Hoey, Mi’Oshi Holloway, Dr. Bob Lawson, Lindsay Locasto, Amber Potts, Brad Schneider, Natalie Singer, Susie Thurman, and Dr. Jason Warren.
Most of our work began in February with a listening process that included in person visioning sessions and a survey. Four sessions were held: one for the library, two sessions open to the public at the HCPL, and one open to the public at the Greater Norris Chapel Baptist Church. In total, 91 people attended these meetings. The online and paper survey was completed by 321 individuals. We sincerely appreciate the willingness of so many community members to provide valuable input and are excited to cast a vision for the future of our library.
After reviewing the visioning and survey reports, the steering committee has identified four initial strategic questions to address in our strategic plan:
How might we increase community engagement?
How might we offer exciting programs?
How might we communicate what is going on in the library?
How might we transform the library space to what the community wants?
Please feel free to provide your thoughts on whether these are the most important priorities for the HCPL to focus on in the coming 3-5 years. In the coming months, we will develop an exciting vision for the future of the Henderson County Public Library.
We welcome your continued input and are excited about the future of the library. Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Shannon Sandefur
