Introduction
Forsyth County Public Library's Sensory-Friendly Newsletter is designed for families with children, teens and adults with sensory issues. The programs, books and community support groups will help families find programs and information geared toward this community.
 
Library Programs
Pinecone Christmas Trees
Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 11 a.m.
Malloy/Jordan East Winston Heritage Center
Escape from the hustle and bustle of the season and enjoy a calming craft and atmosphere. We will create cute Christmas trees for you to decorate your home with. Please call 336-703-2950 for more information. 
Sensory Free-Play
Thursday, Dec. 5, 12, and 19, at 11 a.m.
Central Library
Children of all ages can play with sensory toys and interact with each other during this program. Please call 336-703-3040 for more information.
 
Autism Society of North Carolina Support Group Meeting
Friday, Jan. 3, from 9:30-11 a.m.
Lewisville Branch Library
This group meets on the first Friday of each month (not always at the Lewisville Branch Library) to provide a space for open discussion by parents and caregivers of people on the autism spectrum who are interested in learning from each other.

Community Resources
Autism Society of North Carolina
The Autism Society of North Carolina offers a variety of resources and events for those with sensory processing differences and their families. For more information on the services they offer as well as access to their online calendar visit the Autism Society of North Carolina website.  
 
Brenner Children's Hospital
Teens and Pre-Teens with special needs can join the Saturday Club at Brenner Children’s Hospital.  This group meets the third Thursday of every month. For more information about this or other groups please call 336-727-2505 or visit the Brenner Children's Hospital website. 
 
iCan House
iClub at iCan House is open for applicants ages 8-14 looking to expand their social skills and make new friends.
 
iCan House also offers Real World Connections, a program for teens with the opportunity for both peer-to-peer and mentor-led interactions.  This program focuses on communication, flexibility, and real world life skills among other things. For more information about meeting times or to request an application for either program, please call 336-723-0050 or visit the iCan House website.
 
Kaleideum 
Kaleideum Downtown offers Sensory-Friendly Nights throughout the year on the first Monday of the month.  Admission is $3 per person for members and nonmembers. Visit the Kaleideum website for more information.
