REMINDER OF  UPCOMING EVENTS

 

This coming Monday, March 31st, the Special Collections Department will be hosting an event entitled 'Our Ancestors and Their Weather Woes'. The Speaker for the evening is Tim Troutman from the National Weather Service. His program is a Powerpoint presentation on historical weather events as it related to ancestors in the North Alabama and South Central Tennessee regions. We hope you'll join us at 6:30 PM in the Second Floor Meeting Room for this interesting look at another, and usually overlooked aspect, of local history and genealogy. The event is free to the public.

 

In just over two weeks on Friday, April 11th, Special Collections will be hosting the first 'Sitting Up With the Dead' program for the year. It will run from 6 PM to 11 PM and be held on the 3rd floor of the Main Library. Our guest Speaker will be John Rankin who has been with us in the past. His topic will be on Court Records, specifically Chancery Court, and some examples of the interesting cases that can be found in them. Cost is still $15 with no meal and $22.50 with a meal.
