Remember To Look For Deals When Signing Up For Genealogy Databases!

Remember that most genealogy databases, such as Ancestry and MyHeritage, are businesses. Like most businesses, they will often offer sales. Times like Mother's Day and Memorial Day are great for getting some nice discounts on services you would probably be buying anyway. Discounts are usually also available for DNA kits as well.

The Silver Books are also known as the Mayflower Families Through Five Generations. They started in the 1920s as a manuscript. The research for these books is continually in progress with frequent updates. Obituaries and Death Related Items Abstracted From the Mendon Dispatch of Mendon, Adams County, Illinois 1877- 1905
by Mrs. Joseph J Beals Sr & Sandy Kirschner

While conducting their own genealogical research in the early newspaper issues, Mrs. Beals and Mrs. Kirchner realized that other genealogists might be interested in the wealth of family names and interesting information they were discovering. Accordingly, they created this alphabetical listing, which contains more than forty-six hundred names. Most of these obituary abstracts are a couple of lines long and include the name of the deceased, age and cause of death. Many, however, are much more detailed and identify surviving relatives, service to the community and church affiliation. Probate records, including the appointment of estate executors, constitute most of the other death related items. All listings include the newspaper's publication date and, usually, the original headline. (Heritage Books)
