We're sending a message to the future! The City of Burlingame is creating a time capsule to be sealed for the next 50 years in a historic army tank locker at the Burlingame Community Center. We're seeking items that capture the spirit of our community for future generations to discover.
The term for the position is one year (June 2026 - May 2027)

We have a full year of swaps planned in order to reduce waste and share gently used items.

Cut & Create: Cricut + ChompSaw Makers Lab
Monday, January 12 from 5pm – 6pm Tech Lab
Stop by the library and try out our ChompSaw and Cricut! Explore the tools, experiment with materials, learn with others, and see what you can create. No experience necessary—just bring your curiosity!

Author Talk: The World at Home with Ginny Kubitz Moyer

Author Ginny Kubitz Moyer will chat with us about the history and inspiration behind her new novel. Set in booming San Francisco during WWII, The World at Home tells the story of Irene Mary Cleary, a young seamstress entering a new world of business, war, and classism. The talk will be followed by a Q&A and book signing.

Please join us for our next meeting of the Caregiver Support Group, which will feature a very special guest speaker. Dr. Maha Alkaid Albqoor is a registered nurse and public health professional with over 15 years of experience in community health, geriatric care, and health education. Dr. Albqoor's presentation is titled "Dementia Caregiving: Challenges, Coping, and Support". Among the topics to be covered are common challenges that dementia caregivers face, practical strategies for coping, and community resources & support. This will undoubtedly be a very informative meeting, so please join us on Saturday, January 17th at 2:00pm!

Every Monday and Thursday 2 pm to 4 pm and Wednesday and Saturday 10 am to noon in the Tech Lab (Lower Level), the library hosts a Computer Help Drop-In. There are Volunteer Computer Tutors available to work one-on-one with you.

Build school skills and confident literacy! We welcome Kindergartners through 8th Graders to be paired with a Teen Mentor (with a 3.5+ GPA) for homework help and reading practice. Join us on Mondays and Tuesdays, from 4:00-5:30 PM, from January 20th to April 14th.* Parents or guardians must sign a permission form for the first session attended. Drop-In registration accepted.

Great Conversations Book Club
The Great Conversations Book Club meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each month and is a community book club that meets in the Library, but is not staffed by the Burlingame Public Library. The Library assists the group in acquiring reading materials and booking a meeting space. The group's reading selections are based on materials from the Great Books Foundation.
