Ancestry Library Edition Available at Home through July 31! ProQuest will continue to provide public library cardholders with remote access to Ancestry Library Edition through July 31. Access all of Naperville Public Library's genealogy resources on our Genealogy & Local History page. Ancestry Library Edition has access to worldwide records. For assistance understanding Ancestry's search process when you are on a 'Search' page, enter one or more letters into the 'First & Middle Name(s)' field to reveal the word 'Exact'. Click 'Exact' then 'About these settings' to display an explanation of Ancestry's search results and tips for using wildcards in your search. Don't miss the expert instruction and tips in the 'Learning Center' in Ancestry Library Edition. There are sections on 'Getting Started' 'Immigration', 'Ethnic' and 'Military'. In the 'Census' section there is a guide titled "Follow Your Family using Census Records" that includes a handy chart "What You’ll Learn in the Census, Year by Year". Find Your Patriots' Stories To discover ancestors who participated in the struggle for American Independence, input 'Sons (or Daughters) of the American Revolution Membership Applications' into Ancestry's 'Card Catalog' title field, then search by name or place. These applications contain the details of an ancestor's service, family tree data, as well as listings of resources used to prove an ancestor's service. In HeritageQuest search in the 'Revolutionary War Pension and Bounty-Land Warrant Application Files', where you may find letters from patriots, their family, and friends detailing the patriot's participation in the war for independence. 'Revolutionary War Rolls', 'Prisoner Lists' and 'Pension Files' can also be found In Fold3 Library Edition, a resource that focuses on military records, and which is the same resource as the paid subscription. FamilySearch.org also has a wide variety of Revolutionary war documents. Naperville Public Library (NPL) buildings are now open. Accessing FamilySearch.org through NPL Wi-fi provides FamilySearch.org images that are viewable at Affiliate Libraries.
