RCLS Census Competition
RCLS is holding a Census competition among the member libraries that began on Friday,
April 17.  Each member library will track the Census response rate of a preselected region in their service area.  Weekly winners will be determined by the difference in percentages from one week to the next.  The overall winning library will receive a pizza party once libraries reopen!  For rules and information, visit the RCLS Census Guide LibGuide.

Resilience Film
Resilience is a film about adverse childhood experiences and how they can impact mental and physical health as children grow up. The film also discusses how having a trusted adult in a child’s life can help battle and prevent these negative health effects. A virtual (BlueJeans) showing and discussion will happen on Tuesday, April 28 at 10 a.m. Register here. (2 CE)

Children’ Day/Book Day
Member libraries representing all four counties will participate in the Dia (aka Children’s Day/Book Day) Read-a-Thon on Thursday, April 30.  Participants will post a video of themselves reading a children’s book on Facebook, with a new video going up on a different Facebook page every 15 minutes.

Daniel W. Casey Library Advocacy Award
The Daniel W. Casey Library Advocacy Award is sponsored by the Friends of Libraries Section (FLS) of New York Library Association (NYLA).  Given annually since 1993, the award honors a volunteer member or group from the library community whose efforts have contributed to the growth of libraries or Friends of the Library organizations.  To learn more and for a nomination form, visit the NYLA website.  Deadline to submit nominations is Monday, June 1.

RCLS Board Meeting
The materials for the Monday, April 20, RCLS Board Meeting are now on the RCLS Website.  The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. via BlueJeans.  For dial-in information, contact Grace Riario, Executive Director (ext. 233 or griario@rcls.org).  
This is an open meeting and all are invited to attend.
In keeping with Executive Order 202.14 (regarding emergency adjustments to the Open Meetings Law in response to the COVID-19 pandemic), the public is not permitted in-person access to this meeting, and the meeting shall be held remotely via BlueJeans online meeting software.  As required by the Governor’s Order, the public will have the ability to view and listen to such proceeding (BlueJeans Link), and the meeting shall be recorded, and made available on the RCLS website.
