After growing up visiting the Village library, Carolina started to work at HKDPL as a page. Now, 10 years later, Carolina works at the Village library as a Clerk. Carolina loves working in the community where she grew up in. Carolina likes to read books by Latino authors as well as biographies. For fun, Carolina loves to dance and spend time with friends and family. Stop by the Village Branch to say hello to Carolina!

BUGS Workshop with Mad Science Sunday, April 29, 2:00pm to 3:00pm
Children are introduced to the world of entomology. Examining real specimens and models help children familiarize themselves with insect anatomy. An insect habitat match-up helps children understand how insects adapt to their environment. They learn how insects defend themselves in a world of giants, and their importance in pollinating plants. CPR and First Aid Monday, April 16, 6pm to 8pm Join local instructor Scott Kohn for this two-hour class on CPR and First Aid. The National Safety Council issues certification for infant, child and adult CPR. There is a $20 materials fee per person, which includes workbooks, DVD and a 2 year certification card. Fee must be paid at registration. For ages 12 and up! Stop by the Library to Register!

Celebrate Earth Day April 22 - April 29 In celebration of Earth Day, we are giving away White Spruce seedlings. Known as the most beautiful tree in existence, the White Spruce tree can reach 60 ft in height and spread around 20 ft. During the Week of April 22, check out any item and you'll get a seedling to plant.

King Con 2018 Join us for our first annual Comic Con - King Con on August 18, 2018 from 10am to 4pm. This free event is open for all and will feature presentations, workshops, crafts, as well as local artists and vendors. Contest and giveaways will be held throughout the day! Sunday Concert Series - Raisins & Almonds: Jewish Songs from the Heart Sunday, April 29, 2pmDr. Lois Morton, educator and contemporary cabaret singer/songwriter, takes you on a historical journey of Jewish music from Eastern Europe via Second Avenue, through two World Wars, and into the American mainstream. She will be singing an array of songs in Yiddish, English, Ladino, French, and Hebrew.

Allergy Free Foods - A Cook in My Kitchen Tuesday, April 24, 6:30 - 8:30pm We grew up on Peanut Butter and Jelly, Wonder Bread and Chocolate Chip Cookies. Today these “food groups” can make someone sick or even be fatal. Serving basic food dishes has become difficult, even impossible, with the exponential growth of food allergies. Theresa Grimm of A Cook in My Kitchen will show you how to make Gluten Free, Nut Free and Egg Free items that taste delicious and accommodate specific food allergies. A $3 non-refundable materials fee is due at time of registration.

Intro to Digital Photography April 21 & 28, 10am This class will include both the terms of digital photography and basic functions of your digital camera. Whether you own a simple “point & shoot” or want to learn more about the many additional functions of your digital SLR camera, everyone is welcome. Bring your notebook to the first class and your camera and questions to second class. Class size is small in order to provide individualized ‘hands on’ instruction, demonstration and the opportunity for you to ask the questions you need answered in order to feel more confident about using your camera.
