Science Squad Thursday, October 25, 5:00pm to 8:00pm For ages 9-12 years old. Participate in fun chemistry, physics, and technology experiments to discover more about the world around you! On this day we are making GHOST SLIME! Registration begins one week before program for everyone.

Monster Hunt Wednesday, October 31, 6:00pm to 8:00pm
For ages 7-14. Kids crave adventure - and they have one in the MONSTER HUNT, where they find and capture a lurking monster! Children work in teams and solve clues that lead to the monster's secret lair. All participants have their own clues and proceed at their own pace, so everyone succeeds. And everyone is rewarded with their very own monster detective badge! No registration required.

Henna Wednesday, October 3, 6:00pm to 7:30pm Marie Nugent (an internationally Certified Natural Henna Artist) will be using henna paste made from plants that is applied to the skin to make a decorative design. Henna has been used in such a manner for thousands of years. The purpose of this program is to present information about Henna; it’s history, safety and to demonstrate its decorative use on the skin. Registration is required. Parental permission is required! Teens who do not wish to have a possibly long-lasting decoration on their skin may choose not to receive henna - which is perfectly ok. You will still learn about henna and work hands on creating some original designs.

Walking Dead Day Wednesday, October 17, 6pm to 7pm Commemorate the world’s favorite, long-running, survival Image/Skybound Entertainment comic by Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard. Participants will receive Walker masks, buttons, bookmarks, posters, postcards, and more, along with a WALKING DEAD DAY SPECIAL giveaway issue by Kirkman and Adlard, featuring a cover newly re-colored by Dave McCaig. This special issue contains four short stories featuring Michonne, The Governor, Morgan and Tyrese, and explores these fan-favorite characters in-depth.

Pumpkin Decorating Contest Monday, October 22 - October 29. Pick up a pumpkin beginning Monday, October 22. Return your carved pumpkin by Monday, October 29. Carve your pumpkin at home. Bring it back to the Library by October 29. They will be displayed to be judged the week of October 29. Everyone can vote! Grand prize plus 2nd and 3rd prizes.

HKDPL Holiday Craft Fair We are holding our first annual Holiday Craft Fair on December 1st. Do you knit? Corchet? Are you a creative crafter with a house overflowing with items to sell? We will be setting up tables in the Community Room for you to use to sell your items. A small fee with be charged per table, the proceeds of the fee and any raffle sold will be donated to charity.
