What's new for teens
 
Welcome back from summer break!
 
There are many programs and events for teens coming up this fall, including D&D Club, Classics Book Club, middle school crafts, SAT & ACT practice tests, community service, and a fiction writing workshop.
 
The entire family is invited to Celebrate the Library's 30th Anniversary on Sunday, September 7th, 12-3 p.m.
 
As always, we welcome all students in grades 6-12 to our teen-friendly room.

EVENTS & PROGRAMS
Afterschool Lounge
Wednesdays 2:30 - 4:30 PM
In the Teen Room
Drop in on the early release day (for Del Mar Middle School) for studying, games, and hanging out with friends. Free snacks are provided.
THURS-DIY Afterschool crafts for middle schoolers
Thursdays starting in September, 3:30-5:30 PM
In the Teen Workshop
Students in grades 6-8 are invited for Do-It-Yourself crafts. No registration needed. Bring your friends!
Dungeons & Dragons Party
Saturday, September 13, 11 AM - 1 PM

Returning and new Dungeons & Dragons fans are invited to launch a new season of D&D Club, meet our Dungeon Master, have fun, enjoy snacks, and learn about upcoming events.

Select between the ACT or SAT practice test, or try both. Register for multiple sessions now to reserve your spot (when you sign up for one session, you will have the option of registering for future dates). Free!

Fiction Writing Workshop

Calling teen writers in grades 9-12. Are you a writer or do you want to learn about becoming one? Author Annie Fox shows you how to create fictional worlds and characters. Share your ideas and get writing tips.
Puzzle Swap
Saturday, September 13, 2-4 PM
On the patio in front of Corner Books
Bring a puzzle, take a puzzle! Held every other month.
Teen volunteers are needed to help out!

Classics Book Club
Saturday, September 27 at 4-5 pm

Do you love to read? Meet up to discuss modern classic books and earn community service credit for participating. For teens in grades 9-12.
Each month, we will read and discuss a different modern literature title. For September, we are reading:
The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger.
TEEN VOLUNTEERS
Click the button on the right to complete the online application if you are new.  Sign up for upcoming shifts.  Weekly afterschool hours are now on Tuesdays (not Thursdays).
 
A new app is available to track your community service activities. Developed by a local student, volunteers can get the NexoLink Volunteer Hub available at the Apple app store.
