Meet the Authors of "Ribbons of Scarlet"
Saturday, October 5, at 2 p.m.
Join us on October 5 from 2-4 p.m. to meet all six authors of "Ribbons of Scarlet: A Novel of the French Revolution's Women" at the Shannon Staub Library! Kate Quinn (The Alice Network), Stephanie Dray and Laura Kamoie (America's First Daughter), Sophie Perinot (Medicis Daughter), Heather Webb (Meet Me in Monaco), and E. Knight (My Lady Viper) collaborated to write this timely and compelling novel about the power of women to start a revolution and change the world.

International Observe the Moon Night
Saturday, October 5, at 7:30 p.m.
Join the rest of the world in observing the moon on this special night! This program includes a short lecture by NASA Ambassadors Linda McKenna and Kaitlin Porter, hands-on activities, and outdoor viewing of the moon using telescopes. All ages are invited, and registration is recommended. Lights will be turned off in the parking lot for the event. Some flashlights will be available, but patrons are welcome to bring their own flashlight.

Southwest Florida Paranormal Panel
Wednesday, October 23, at 5:30 p.m.
As Halloween nears, Shannon Staub Library is proud to host its first 'Paranormal Panel' with representatives from different paranormal groups in Southwest Florida. Whether you are looking to network with those who share similar interests or if you are curious about hearing different perspectives, this ectoplasmic event will leave your intellect spookily satisfied. Registration is recommended.

Hallow-Teen Party
Saturday, October 26, at 7:30 p.m.
Come in your best costume and enjoy games, scare zones, prizes, escape rooms, and a ghoulish dance party at this AFTER HOURS event! This event is for ages 11 - 18.
A signed permission slip must be turned in to gain access to the event on Saturday, October 26, 2019. Check-in will begin at 7:30 PM. Participants will not be admitted after 8:15 PM. Please use the permission slip as your ticket in. The permission slip is attached, or you can pick one up at the Youth Services Desk at the Shannon Staub Library.

Open Lab in the Creation Station
Every Thursday, from 12-8 p.m.
Come build, experiment, and create with our 3D printer, laser cutter, sewing machines, and more. Bring your own projects for development, prototyping, and production, or start something new working hands-on with our Creation Station equipment. A library staff member will be available to answer questions and assist with equipment setup.

Teens Who Code

Teens Who Code is a variation of Girls Who Code using the same curriculum. Girls Who Code is on a mission to close the gender gap in technology and to change the image of what a programmer looks likes and does. In this series of classes, we will be inviting our participants to learn about the GWC core values of sisterhood, the core 4 computer science concepts every programmer needs to know, and our community impact. Each group will be challenged to solve real-world problems that THEY care about using code.
This program is recommended for ages 11 - 18. All genders are welcome to join the club! All participants must be able to commit to most or all sessions. Registering for one session will register you for all the sessions.

This month we will be reading and discussing "The Night Circus" by Erin Morgenstern. The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des Reves, and it is only open at night. But behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway—a duel between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors.
