Well, hello.Well, hello. My name is Suzanne, and while I am new to Book Squad, I have worked at NoveList for four years as a Metadata Librarian, focused mostly on cataloging juvenile materials, graphic novels, and audiobooks. I volunteer regularly at my kids' school media center, so I get to see first-hand what you deal with on a daily basis. I am so very happy to be writing for School KidLit - I have the best job EVER! Please let me know how I can help you! (just finished reading Shannon and Dean Hale's The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl: 2 Fuzzy, 2 Furious)

I still have reluctant readers. We know, we know. We all have them, and sadly no one has found a magic formula to reach all of them. As a school media specialist, you're stuck between teachers who need kids to read specific titles or genres, and students who are so tired of reading what's required that they don't want to read for pleasure.
We hope we don't disappoint you, but we don't have a magic formula either. However, NoveList has fantastic tools, like articles and lists, that you can search for to specifically address the issue. Yours in reading,

Younger patrons may be looking for either books they can read independently or books they can read with an adult. This flyer hits on both, but you can easily modify it in LibraryAware to swap for your own titles or to feature only picture books or books for independent readers.

Help middle grade reluctant readers choose their next read with this printable flyer. While this flyer features multiple genres, you could make a flyer for each genre represented in your library or a flyer for readalikes for your library's most popular books.
