My co-worker Danielle couldn't convince her son to read The Crossover, even though it contains some of his favorite things (sports, realistic characters, and real life). The reason? He thought the words were too difficult. However, listening to the audiobook inspired him to pick up the print version and read it from cover to cover!
Listening to a story brings it to life. The listener can hear the rhythm and cadence of the author's words. They can be drawn into a world that they might have missed if they read slowly or too quickly.
