April 2026
National Library Week
Millions of people across the country visit their libraries each week. What’s the draw? Everything! At Sherwood Public Library, we invite you to visit the library during National Library Week, April 19-25, to explore all we have to offer. This year’s theme is “Find Your Joy.”

National Library Week is a observance sponsored by the American Library Association and libraries of all types across the country each April since 1958. Get ready to explore, become inspired, and connect with others this National Library Week.

Dinner at the Night Library by Hika Harada
Dinner at the Night Library
by Hika Harada

The Night Library on the outskirts of Tokyo isn't your ordinary library. It's only open from seven o'clock to midnight. It exclusively stores books by deceased authors, and none of them can be checked out -- instead, they're put on public display, akin to a book museum. Otoha Higuchi, the newest employee, has been recruited to work at the library by the anonymous owner. There, Otoha meets the other staff, comprised of former librarians and booksellers who, like her, have been damaged in some way by the rocky publishing industry, yet none of them have given up on their dedication to books.
