Proposed Measure 34-345 for Countywide Library Services on Nov. 4, 2025 Ballot
Washington County Cooperative Library Services (WCCLS) is the primary source of funding for public library operations across the county.

This November, voters will have the opportunity to consider a proposed measure that would fund public library services in Washington County. If passed, Measure 34-345 would replace a 5-year levy expiring in June 2026 and continue to generate tax revenue from July 2026 through June 2031. The proposed measure would cost property owners $0.37 per $1,000 of assessed property value.

If Measure 34-345 does not pass, library services would not be provided as proposed and property taxes would not be increased. Read more at wccls.org/levy. Sherwood Public Library funding comes from WCCLS through the county’s general fund (40%) and the levy (26%), as well as the City of Sherwood general fund (34%).
Freedom to Read Month
You’re invited to celebrate the right to read. Banned Books Week (October 5-11), an initiative of American Library Association since 1982, reminds us of the dangers of censorship and inspires readers to explore challenged material. This year’s theme is “Censorship Is So 1984. Read for Your Rights.” Visit us for free swag, the 2024 Book Report, browse displays, and more. On Thursday, October 9, join us for Handwriting the Constitution, where you can grab a pen and get reacquainted with our nation’s founding document. Learn more at: sherwoodoregon.gov/library.
