Wheetle: A Little Wagon with a Big Heart written and illustrated by Cindy Derby Wheetle the wagon loves to help his neighbors by carrying anything and everything they need transported; after all, he was built for this. As Wheetle counts down to his favorite day of the year, he continues helping others in his community and winds up with a tire that feels a little off. On his big day, while helping out one more friend, Wheetle's tire pops leaving him stranded and unable to reach his destination. With the assistance of his neighbors, he makes it all the way to the top of a hill to witness his favorite event. In this story, Wheetle shows readers that it's ok to rely on others and ask for help because we cannot do everything on our own.

Everything's Wrong written by Jory John and illustrated by Erin Kraan We all know what it's like to have one of those days where one thing after another just doesn't go our way. In this adorably relatable picture book, a bear and a rabbit experience a string of mishaps that ultimately ends with the characters unwinding with a group of friends by swimming in the lake. You are your littles are sure to laugh out loud while reading this book. I appreciate the message at the end that while we cannot control what happens to us, we can control how we react. The book ends by stating the importance of having good friends to get through life's challenges and trying times. This story is a winner for sure!

Big Kids written by K. L. Going illustrated by Reggie Brown This picture book addresses a common fear many littles face when starting the school year: all of the big kids. If your kiddo is apprehensive about school, reading this book could help assuage some of that unease. This story depicts a younger and smaller student who is assigned an older and bigger buddy student who helps him find his classroom as well offering assistance in the cafeteria, library, and on the playground. This story makes big kids (who may appear intimidating at first) feel approachable, supportive, and fun. As we gear up for the start of a new school year, this is a great reading choice.
