What's Up With Wordless Picture Books?
Wordless picture books can be a bit puzzling at first. How can a book work without words? How is this helping children hone their reading skills if there aren't words? Let's look at just a few benefits of these books.

1. Young readers have to learn the basics that we, as experienced readers, often overlook. Like, how to hold a book upright, flip pages, and read from left to right and top to bottom. Picture books without words help with this. Children can determine how to hold the book and move through it thanks to the pictures.

2. For reluctant or struggling readers, reading experiences can be frustrating or negative. Including literary experiences that are less stressful and more positive can help boost confidence and willingness to read in general.

3. Reading experiences with wordless picture books still help build skills like identifying cause and effect and utilizing context clues. They're provided in the format of pictures rather than words, which is a great way to begin working on these skills with emerging readers or reinforce them with seasoned readers.

4. Finally, these books allow for an engaging and interactive reading experience for you and your little one. The lack of words allows you to tell the story, ask questions, and make sound effects. This can be a fun interactive experience for caregivers and children that allows us to harness the wonder of our imagination.
