Book Review
A rover's story by Jasmine Warga
A Rover’s Story
by Jasmine Warga

Review by Sharlene

Resilience (Res) is a Mars rover built for one purpose: to survive the harsh environment of space and complete its mission. To find and restart an older rover named Courage, who went offline years ago. But as Res prepares for launch, something unexpected happens. It begins to pick up on the behaviors of the NASA scientists around it and starts to feel emotions.

Once on Mars, Res and a lively drone named Fly are guided by a satellite called Guardian. Together, they explore the red planet, face challenges, and form unlikely friendships. Interwoven with the mission are heartfelt letters from Sophie, the daughter of one of the scientists, who writes to Res like an old friend.

Told through Res’s thoughtful narration and Sophie’s letters, A Rover’s Story blends science, adventure, and emotion into a touching and thought-provoking read. It’s a great choice for readers who enjoyed reading and watching The Wild Robot by Peter Brown, those who like science and STEM, and perfect for sparking discussion about empathy, identity, and exploration.
