The Trouble with Heroes - Kate Messner

If you're not sure if you need a good laugh or a good cry, you will love the hilarious and heartbreaking ups and downs of The Trouble with Heroes. Written entirely in poetry form, this gripping story offers a fresh perspective on humanity, nature, and second chances.

You meet Finn Connelly just after he's caught a charge for vandalizing a gravestone; As reparations for the crime, Finn has been tasked to hike all 46 peaks of the Adirondack mountain range, with a drool-face dog and several "trail nannies" who make Finn's goal to blow through the ranges rather difficult. As if the drool-face dog and chattering company aren't enough, Finn is working through bigger issues like his failing grades in P.E. and English class, and the loss of his late father-- his Hero. It all feels like too much, too heavy to carry up a mountain, let alone 46. But, maybe the hardships of life are easier to take on one teaspoon at a time.

Join the misadventures of Finn, Seymore, and the other "46ers" and learn how to get truly lost in order to find yourself again, in this laugh-until-you-cry story based on real trails and real life.
