Question: My great grandfather's death certificate states he was buried as a pauper in Lake County, Indiana. He resided at Lake County Poor Asylum located in Crown Point for 8 years and died there in 1926. Where would he be buried?
Paupers were buried in the historic Maplewood Cemetery in Crown Point or Hessville Pauper Cemetery run by the North Township Trustee
- unless they had pre-arranged, family burial spots; then they could be elsewhere. Searching www.findagrave.com
can help if they have a tombstone.
