Book of the Month
Kin: Oprah's Book Club by Tayari Jones
Kin
by Tayari Jones

Fated to live very different lives, Vernice and Annie have been best friends and neighbors since early childhood in Honeysuckle, Louisiana. Vernice leaves at eighteen for Spelman College and joins a sisterhood of powerfully connected Black women which opens up a new world for her. Annie, determined to find the mother who abandoned her as a child, lives in a world of peril and adversity but also love and adventure.

As a testament to the deep relationships between mothers and daughters, friends and sisters, this emotional story paints the complexities of being a woman in the American South.
