What's happening at YOUR library!
May 2021

The Aloha Community Library will be closed all day on Monday, May 31, in observance of Memorial Day.

All virtual storytimes will be taking a two week break starting Tuesday, May 25, and we will be back starting Tuesday, June 8! Get ready for summer fun for the whole family from June through August!

Spring! Time for renewal...of your library!

We are making some changes at the library so we can serve you better! We are working on a long-term plan that we will share as we move forward. To kick things off, we are creating a new children’s library so kids and their families can explore and learn in their very own space! We will continue our current holds pick up service for a bit longer as we move furniture and books – so many books! Once the library is spiffed up and ready for company again, we will set a date to welcome patrons back into the library. We are so excited to make some changes that have been on our dream list for a long time and even more happy that we’ll be able to share them with you soon! Stay tuned for details. Thank you for your patience and support!

P.S. Don't forget about our delivery service! If you are not able to make it to the library for holds pick up service and live within a 10 minute drive, give us a call. We're delivering to private homes and apartments on Wednesdays and Saturdays (we are not able to deliver to assisted living or skilled nursing facilities - so sorry). We'll collect some basic information from you, then arrange a delivery day and timeframe. We can also pick up materials you have checked out and return them to the library. Let us know if we can help!

Spring Auction, noon Mon 5/17 – noon Fri 5/21

Save the date! Spring is in the air, and we’re celebrating with our online 2021 Spring Auction. We’ll have a fabulous lineup of both auction packages to bid on and purchases to sponsor for the library, so whether you’re ready to indulge in some retail therapy or rocking that minimalist lifestyle, get ready to have a good time while also supporting your local Aloha Community Library! Visit bit.ly/ACLauction21 for more information and  a link to the auction when it opens.

ACLA seeks Board members

Our nonprofit public library is governed by a board of directors made up of volunteers committed to making the library and our community a success for the long term. If you are interested in providing oversight of the organization, and working with us to increase literacy and eradicate information poverty, contact Library Director Terri Palmer for more information (volunteer@alohalibrary.org; 503-259-0185).

Introducing our NEW outdoor ballot drop box!

Grab your ballots for the May election and drop them off in front of the library 24/7! The box is to the left of our front doors and clearly marked. Our thanks to the Washington County Elections Division, the Washington County Facilities and Parks Services Department, and Bales Findley LLC for making this possible!

Dial us up at 971-245-7734 to hear a brief reading of an excerpt from a book that’s set somewhere else. If you enjoy it and want to read more for yourself, you can leave us a message after the end of the recording, and we’ll be happy to help you request a copy to check out.

We’ll be posting new recordings frequently for you to listen to, so call back regularly to travel someplace new!
