What's happening at YOUR library!
July 2021

The Aloha Community Library will be closed all day Monday, July 5 in observance of Independence Day. Have a safe and happy 4th of July weekend!

Library Updates

We’re so excited to welcome patrons back into the building! We will continue to provide updates on our expanding services here in our newsletter, through e-blasts, and on our Facebook and Instagram pages. We appreciate your patience as we wait for restrictions to lift before making too many changes. Even after formal restrictions are no longer required, we will continue to prioritize staff and patron safety. Folks may continue to choose to wear masks and other protective gear for a long time. Thank you in advance for your respect for everyone’s personal choices.
We appreciate your support and hope to see you in the library soon!

We are continuing to collect non-perishable food and personal hygiene donations at the library. This will be an ongoing project to benefit our neighbors, so if you forget your donations one time, feel free to drop them off the next time you are in. Donations will now be taken to our local food pantry at the Aloha Church of God. Visit http://www.alohacog.org/Food%20Pantry/FoodPantry.htm for more information and a current list of needed items. Thank you so much for your donations to help our neighbors in need!

Adult Programs
Color Your World

In the spirit of this year’s “Color Your World” Summer Reading theme, we’re asking you, our patrons, to tell us about the things that will forever color your recent memories. Each month, June through August, we’ll be sharing prompts through our social media channels, facebook.com/AlohaLibrary and on Instagram @AlohaCommunityLibrary, to spark community reflection and conversation about the recent books you read, movies & TV shows you watched, technology that increasingly became a part of your life, and the communities with which you’ve shared them. Be on the lookout for those prompts or send us your response as a reply to this newsletter if you’re not on social media!

For July, send us your text, video, or visual media response to the prompt, “The technology that will forever color my recent memories is                           .”

At the end of August, we’ll take all of the responses we gather and turn them into a collection of crowd-sourced recommendations and resources to be shared with our community. All respondents will also be entered into an end-of-Summer giveaway of fun prizes including WCCLS pint glasses, Aloha Community Library tote bags, and Baja Fresh gift baskets courtesy of our generous donors!

It’s an engrossing read that should delight fans of Christie, contemporary mysteries, or anyone looking for a fun page turner. (Our next book, which we will chat about on 8/4, is A Spool of Blue Thread by Anne Tyler!)
