Madalyn's Games of the Moment It's FINALLY October - my most favorite month of the year! I am a Halloween fanatic through and through. I decorate for Halloween in the middle of September (or earlier), love to carve intricate designs in pumpkins, don a costume for as many occasions as possible, and relish the chance to watch scary movies all month long. That being said, there's nothing I love more than playing a horror-themed game! So, prepare for the spookiest time of the year and send chills up your spine with one of these games... IF YOU DARE! Just in time to make an appearance in my horror recommendations, Arkham Horror: The Card Game is coming to the shelves this month! Arkham Horror is my favorite two-player game - hands down. It's Lovecraftian in theme, super creepy, and utterly engaging. It also does a great job of blending card and role-playing games together. While it is a Living Card Game (LCG) with about a zillion different expansion packs and campaigns, the base game is still full of frightful fun! Growing up, I loved Scooby-Doo and, honestly, still do! For me, Betrayal at House on the Hill is what I imagine would happen if things went very, very wrong for the members of Mystery, Inc. My favorite part about this game is that there are 50 different horror-filled game variations to stumble upon. This makes the game fresh each time and the anticipation of the haunt reveal is almost tangible. Betrayal is definitely a favorite of mine! So, I'm very late to the game, but I just watched Night of the Living Dead and LOVED IT! I'd be remiss if I didn't add a zombie game to my recommendations; so, I've selected Last Night on Earth! Okay, this game has a horrendously unattractive cover, but it's actually really, really fun. It's a scenario-driven game of survival and - the best part - you can play as either the hopeful survivors or the zombies!
