Mr. Jeremy's Games of the Moment
I like to keep y'all on your toes - so, I'm shaking things up with the recommendations this month. Summer is upon us, the kids are out of school, and everyone is BORED! There's no need to let boredom strike when we have such A-MA-ZING games in our Children's Department! I asked the Head of the Children's Department (Mr. Jeremy, AKA The Game Geek Ninja) to tell me about his 3 favorite games from the collection and these are the ones he chose.
Breaking from the tradition of competitive kids' games, Outfoxed is a co-op game that forces kids to work together in order to win. Your team plays as sleuthing chickens trying to determine which fox stole a prized pie. Every turn, you roll three dice trying to match symbols for movement or suspects. By eliminating the clothing elements that each fox is wearing on their suspect card, you can figure out who the thief was. However, you have to hurry because the thief is on the move! If the thief escapes, you all lose the game.
Sleeping Queens is a fun, family game designed by a 6 yr old girl and her parents. All the queens are asleep, so you have to play your king cards to wake them up. Other players can steal your queen with a knight or use a sleeping potion to put her back to sleep if you're unable to protect her with a dragon or magic wand. Don't have any special cards? Well, now you get to play number cards and form math equations in order to get new cards to help!
Note: The Pancake Queen is my favorite!
Taco Takeover is a fast-paced set collection game for kids and families. At the start of the game, you get an order card, a taco shell, and are challenged to fill your taco with the correct ingredients. Everyone flips over cards in a mad rush to finish their taco first, but beware! The cockroach will make you dump out all of your ingredients and start over. This game is super fast and super fun!
