We have made the switch to a new library software system, and our new catalog is now available! You will notice some changes!- In most cases, your OCLN pin/password will not have changed. If you had letters in your password, they will have been changed to all uppercase letters. If you were using the default password, it will now be OCLN. If you do not remember your password or do not like the changes made by the system, you can use the "forgot password" link in the catalog to reset it.
- Our loan periods have changed! The default loan period has changed from 2 weeks to 3 weeks. This does not apply to hotspots, Rokus, and our new book "browsing only" collection. Loans will still renew two times if no one has placed a hold on the item.
- If you have any questions about these changes, please call or email the library.

Wednesday, May 13th, 7:00 p.m. Monthly meeting of the Contemporary Book Group in the Historical Room. Discussing A Guardian and a Thief by Megha Majumdar. In a near-future Kolkata beset by flooding and blight, Ma, her two year old daughter Mishti, and her elderly father Dadu are just days from leaving the collapsing city behind to join Ma’s husband in the home he has been building for them in Ann Arbor, Michigan. After procuring long-awaited passports and visas from the consulate, they pack their bags for the flight to America. But in the morning they awaken to discover that Ma’s purse, with all the treasured documents within it, has been stolen. A Guardian and a Thief tells two the story of Ma and her family, their struggle to emigrate to America, and their devastation in the wake of the theft that changes their fate to one of implacable tragedy; and Boomba, the thief, whose hunger and desperation to care for his family drive him to commit a crime whose consequences he cannot fathom. With stunning control and command, Megha Majumdar paints a kaleidoscopic portrait of two families whose destinies become inexorably entangled, wresting compassion from each narrative as the complexities of each character’s circumstances—their helplessness in the face of poverty and corruption, and the need to stave off encroaching catastrophe—are captured with clarity and piercing empathy.

Wednesday April 22nd, 6:00-7:00 p.m. Learn about the centuries-old art of reverse glass painting and create your own reverse painting! Choose from three images, and paint it using acrylic paint on clear acetate. Reverse painting techniques have been used since the 16th century. In reverse painting, the details are painted first and then the larger shapes. It's the reverse order of how one usually paints on paper or canvas where we start with the background, add medium to large shapes and then details. Once the image has been painted, it is viewed from the opposite side through the clear acetate. For adults. Registration required.
