Young Adventurers Club: Growing Plants (GV)Tuesday, April 3, 4pmJoin us at the library as a special guest from Sierra Harvest teaches all about plants, root systems, and how to make things grow. Prepare to get dirty as we try our hand at digging and planting a new garden for the Grass Valley Library. All participants will be able to plant a seed to take home and grow for their own gardens. No registration required. Ages 5 and up.

Want to learn how to hack? Try it with Arduino! Arduino is an open-source electronic prototyping platform enabling users to create interactive electronic objects. Part of our Technology Lending Library. Ages 9 and up ideal. Register in advance.

Monday, April 16, 5:30pm We're usually trying to get our child to do a different behavior - whether it's completing a new action or stopping the current one. Join parent educator, Annie Keeling, as you learn 6 new strategies that really work to build more cooperation. You and your child can move more easily from resistance and big emotions into calm and connected behaviors.

Tuesday, April 17, 4pm This month we will be making our own magnetic poetry and origami boxes using magnetic strips, paper, and our imaginations. This is a chance to stretch our poetic skills and impress our friends with our artful sentences. Come by and make some for yourself! No registration necessary. Ages 5 and up.

Monday, April 30, 5pm Come meet the author of the picture book, "Also an Octopus." The picture book will be on display as a Storywalk in downtown Nevada City, where people can stroll through town and read pages of the book displayed in the windows of retailers. Copies of the book will be available for purchase.

Thursday, April 26, 5:30pm Let's celebrate Calvin and Hobbes! Come learn how to make a slingshot and draw your own comics. Ages 5 and up. No registration necessary. Bring the whole family!

Anime & Manga Club (GV) Every Thursday, 4pm Get crafty and nerdy as we eat Japanese snacks and discuss manga and anime. Otakus forever!

Saturday, April 14, 1pm In this print making workshop, we will learn a brief history of block printing, and see some historical images. Then we'll design and print our own. You could make a single masterpiece, or design a greeting card and print multiples for friends!

Wednesday, April 25, 4pm Have a fandom? Want to create a publication based on a music scene, hobby, or even to tell your story? We'll be creating zines with cut outs from magazines, drawings, handwriting, and more. Hang out, chat, create, and eat snacks.

Friday, April 27, 6pm Calling all teens. Prepare for the musical library event of the year! Teens are free to take over the library after hours to sing songs, watch videos, play games, test your trivia skills, and eat plenty of snacks. This musical themed lock-in will give you plenty of opportunities to talk and sing as loud as you want in the library. Join the Teen Advisory Group for this awesome after-hours party!

Tuesday, April10, 5pm Exquisite Corpse is a collaborative poetry game that traces its roots to the Parisian Surrealist Movement. It's played by several people, each of whom writes a word on a sheet of paper, folds the paper to conceal it, and passes it on to the next player for his or her contribution.

Friday, April 13, 5pm Featuring local poets, including the current Nevada County Poet Laureate, Molly Fisk, interactive poetry, refreshments, and the unveiling of the library's new poetry themed library card designs.

Friday, April 20, 10am Gather with others who want to create and talk about art. It's fun, creative, and a great way to make friends with your inner artist. Plus, you get to leave with a piece of art you created! Supplies provided.

Friday, April 20, 5:30pm A Young Adult Book Club for grownups? That's right! Hang out with Mellisa and Amy at Brew Bakers, 209 W Main Street in Downtown Grass Valley, while they discuss April's book choice, "When Dimple Met Rishi."

Wednesday, April 25, 3pm Have you been meaning to send a "Thank You" or a "Thinking of You" card? Create a your own greeting card at the Library. All supplies provided and a stamp to mail it off to someone special right away!
