Essay Contest for 5th-8th Graders, Deadline 10/31/2020
You’re invited to participate in DAR's Essay Contest. A $100 cash prize will be awarded to the student from each grade level who writes the best essay. Awardees also have the chance to win more cash prizes (District, State, and National). Those interested should send a query to martin.severance.dar@gmail.com and you'll receive an info packet.

  • Mindful Mondays: On Monday afternoons, attendees learn breathing exercises, utilize journal prompts, and develop self-awareness skills for when they are feeling stressed or anxious. With a new school year approaching, we will offer more days for students to join us. Stay tuned! 
  • One-on-one Academic Assistance: College students provide middle and high school students with Math & Science enrichment activities. If you or someone you know is interested in receiving academic assistance, email us at adelante@adelanteya.org. 
  • Art with the Armory Center for the Arts: The Armory Center for the Arts provided watercolor kits for students participating in our Tuesday classes. Kits included: watercolors; paint brush; glue; a magazine and paper. 
  • Academic Assistance: Systems of equation and math fundamentals are reviewed and practiced. 
  • Healthy Habits: Easy snack & drink recipes are made together online. Cooking at home increases family bonding and teaches students about responsible food handling.
