STEAM 2018 Kicks Off! Calling all tinkerers, creators, makers and inventors, Pasadena Public Library, in partnership with many other city institutions, is launching the 2018 citywide STEAM initiative where individuals will be encouraged to delve into Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics workshops, seminars, classes and a host of related curriculum.
You’ll be challenged with opportunities to use materials and skills that encourage you to explore, create, play, problem-solve and experiment. Through these engaging and multifaceted activities, we hope to bring STEAM to life in tangible ways, while fostering a love of learning and expanding patrons’ abilities to think critically and creatively. The library is seeking to harmonize the community of youths, adults, hackers, makers, dabblers, professionals, scientists, engineers and artists to enrich, enlighten and bring the joy of discovery to life. We encourage participants to use their imaginations to dream and realize their full potential, becoming rounded in science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics. Not just for children, STEAM is for people of all ages and stages. Tapping into the playfulness and curiosity that may have become dormant, teens and adults may realize that, yes, they too can find a fun creative outlet in a community that encourages the sharing of ideas, concepts and designs. You may even find a desire to lead a class or workshop, or even mentor others in the STEAM movement. You may be a maker, creator or a natural at STEAM activities, but have yet to realize it. What are you waiting for? Come join us at any of the 10 Pasadena libraries to explore exciting creative classes, workshops and seminars such as coding, robotics, engineering, art, music, video game design, astronomy, 3D printing, cooking and more.
