Dream Catcher Story Writing Contest
In 300 words or less, tell us a story inspired by dreams or capturing dreams. It can be real or fiction, poem or prose.
 
  • Entry deadline:  Monday, Nov. 30, 2020
  • Entry categories:  Grades 3-5th; 6-8th; 9-12th
Contest Guidelines:
  • Open to students in 3rd-12th grade who live in Pasadena, or attend school in Pasadena or Pasadena Unified School District.
  • Stories must be 300 words or less.
  • Stories must be original and the student’s own work.
Entries:
  • All entries must be submitted electronically with parent/guardian signature (if applicable) online in the form:  https://www.cityofpasadena.net/library/writing-contest/. (Paste your story into the “Entry” box in the online form.)
  • If you have difficulty accessing the form or need help submitting your story, please email Jane Gov at jgov@cityofpasadena.net
 Prize:
  • Three winners from each category will be published in a Pasadena Public Library magazine or ebook. Winners will be notified and sent a copy of the publication.
  • Winners will be announced in an upcoming issue of Off the Shelf.
  • Winning stories and a few honorable mentions will be published on our Library Blogs at http://pasadena-library.net/

Take & Make:  Origami and Paper Craft Kit
Reserve a free craft kit and follow our video tutorials to create some fun origami and paper crafts. Fill out this survey form starting November 9th at 9:30am to reserve your kit. You’ll receive an email when your craft kit is ready for pickup. For ages 7 and up. Great for teens and families, too!

Don't have supplies? While we are not distributing supplies for all the art projects, we have a few watercolor kits left so you can follow along to the "Watercolor Wonderland" tutorial (pictured left, art by Kasey Agosto). To request a watercolor kit, email Jane Gov at jgov@cityofpasadena.net. Supply kits are for teens only (ages 12-18) and must be picked up at Central Library. Instructions and confirmation will be sent via email.
