Lower Level Restoration Update!
Thank you for your patience as we work to restore access to the library’s lower level.

On November 19, a failed water heater caused significant damage, requiring closure of the entire lower level for water removal and extensive cleanup, including flooring, walls, and damaged furniture.

We’ve just received insurance approval and selected a contractor for the restoration work. Concurrently, with the support of the Friends of the Library, staff have been reviewing the Johnson Meeting Room and Children’s Room to explore potential improvements during construction.

We look forward to a refreshed and improved lower level when we reopen!

The Trouble with Heroes by Kate Messner
The Trouble with Heroes
by Kate Messner

Carla's Pick

Finn Connelly is nothing like his dad, a star athlete and firefighter hero who always ran toward danger until he died two years ago. Finn is about to fail seventh grade and has never made headlines...until now. Caught on camera vandalizing a cemetery, he's in big trouble for knocking down some dead old lady's headstone. Turns out that grave belongs to a legendary local mountain climber, and her daughter makes Finn an unusual offer: she'll drop all the charges if he agrees to climb all forty-six Adirondack High Peaks in a single summer. And there's just one more thing--he has to bring along the dead woman's dog. In a wild three months of misadventures, mountain mud, and unexpected mentors, Finn begins to find his way on the trails. At the top of each peak, he can see for miles and slowly begins to understand more about himself and his dad. But the mountains don't care about any of that, and as the clock ticks down to September, they have more surprises in store. Finn's final summit challenge may be more than even a hero can face.

Through the Woods by Emily Carroll
Through the Woods

Max's Pick

Journey through the woods in this sinister, compellingly spooky collection that features four brand-new stories and one phenomenally popular tale in print for the first time. Emily Carroll brings you tales of old-school folklore and horror, presented in an illustrated style that's both unsettling and deceptively soothing.
Maame: A Today Show Read with Jenna Book Club Pick by Jessica George
Maame
by Jessica George

Raquel's Pick

Maame (ma-meh) has many meanings in Twi but in my case, it means woman. It's fair to say that Maddie's life in London is far from rewarding. With a mother who spends most of her time in Ghana (yet still somehow manages to be overbearing), Maddie is the primary caretaker for her father, who suffers from advanced stage Parkinson's. At work, her boss is a nightmare and Maddie is tired of always being the only Black person in every meeting. When her mum returns from her latest trip to Ghana, Maddie leaps at the chance to get out of the family home and finally start living. A self-acknowledged late bloomer, she's ready to experience some important "firsts": She finds a flat share, says yes to after-work drinks, pushes for more recognition in her career, and throws herself into the bewildering world of internet dating. But it's not long before tragedy strikes, forcing Maddie to face the true nature of her unconventional family, and the perils--and rewards--of putting her heart on the line.
