Summer Reading kicks off July 6 and runs through August 14 (6 weeks). We have lots of fun events and reading challenges for kids, teens, and adults. See below for details.
 
All Summer Reading programs and events have been generously sponsored by the Friends of the Library. Interested in becoming a member? Membership costs very little and means so much. Join us today!

Enter to Win Our Summer Reading Weekly Book Raffle
 
Each week, starting July 6 and ending August 15, the library will pick two popular books to raffle off. To enter the raffle, fill out a raffle ticket at the Main Desk with the title you prefer. The following Monday, two winners will be picked. No requirements to enter! Enter every week!

Come see what herbs, flowers, and vegetables are available. Help yourself to our seed collection for yourself, family, or friends. Seeds will be available
June-August.

Looking to donate seeds?
We're happy to accept donated seed packets sealed and dated 2025 or later. Please drop them off at the Main Desk. 

Good Bugs and Bad Bugs
for Your Garden

Wait! Don't kill it! Not all insects are bad for the garden. In fact, we rely on many to rid us of other unwanted invaders. This presentation, by Master Gardener Bonnie Power, describes some of the common beneficial and pest insects that gardeners encounter in New England. We will take a look at their habits and their life cycles as we discuss how their presence affects the success of our garden year.

Alison O'Leary will lead us on the many fun and interesting hikes in Eastern Massachusetts from her Appalachian Mountain Club guidebook Best Day Hikes Near Boston. She will talk about the history of the land we hike on, including the people and historic events that shaped our parks and open spaces.

Woodland Themed Wall Art

Create your own magical woodland scene framed wall art. In this class we will use wood, rocks, moss and other natural materials to create fanciful forest scenes to hang in your home or office. All supplies are included, just bring your creativity-with Stephanie Enloe of Craftyish.

Summer Reading for Teens
Teen Summer Reading
Mini Books Craft & Raffle
 
Stop by the library and pick up supplies to make paper mini books of everything you read this summer! Each time you add a new mini book to our shelf, you get a raffle ticket for our special Summer Reading Prize Basket.
 
The raffle will be drawn on August 14.
 
 
Join the
Teen Advisory Group (TAG)
 
Join TAG to volunteer at Library events and share your ideas about Library programs for teens. You can also use TAG meeting hours for your school’s community service requirement.
 
Open to teens in grades 7 through 12.
 
We look forward to seeing you in September when TAG meetings start back up!

2026 Reading Challenge
Are you up for the challenge?
 
Join others across the state in this year long reading challenge. You can participate either in person at the library, online through Mass Book, or both!
 
How the challenge works:
  • Choose a book that fits the monthly challenge.
  • After you read, fill out this form to tell us about the book.
    • Dedicated readers will be invited to a year-end celebration hosted by Mass Center for the Book.
    • MA Center for the Book will be drawing two names on the last day of each month to win a free book! Make sure you get those entries in before the end of the month.
    • If you read a book in each of the 12 months, you will be entered in a drawing to win 1 of 2 totes filled with books.
