As Summer Slides by Fall into the Fall with Friends!
Hello Friends,
Hello Friends, As summer slides by what better time to just chill out with a good book or other media, borrowed from your local library of course! While you are cooling down in the library, take advantage of all of the great programming available for kids, tweens, teens and adults. Everyone is welcome! Your support of the Friends of the Richmond Public library through your membership, donations and patronage of the Friend's book sales, made many of the program offerings at Richmond Public Libraries possible this summer. Summer Reading programs have long been a key program funded by the Friends of the Richmond Public Library and with upcoming programs gearing, I hope you are participating! Thank you for everything you do for the Friends and your public library!
See you at the library!
Ruth DeBoer
President, Friends of the Richmond Public Library

We will hold our Book Drive on September 16th from 9 am to 2 pm. Please join us!
Don't miss our General Meeting!
The General Meeting for the Friends of the Richmond Public Library will be held on Friday October 6 from 7 pm to 9 pm in the Martha Davenport Special Collections Room. There will be a brief meeting showcasing the Friends’ budget and changes that have recently been adopted by the Board of Directors.
This meeting is open to all members.
Kirsten Green, award winning journalist and author, will be the featured
speaker discussing her book Devil’s Half Acre. There will be time for Q and A as this amazing story of Mary Lumpkin and the slave trade serves as a catalyst for new information on Richmond history.
Please take the time to enjoy seeing old Friends and meeting new ones over refreshments before and/or after the talk.
Music is Back in Library Park!
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Library Park, Susan Greenbaum
will perform on Saturday, October 14th from 2 until 4 pm. Of course there will be ice cream and cookies for folks to enjoy while listening to her amazing music. This is on the way to and from the Folk Festival so you can enjoy two events on the same day! If rain wants to spoil the day, she will move into the library where all will be comfortable.
What does the future hold for the Richmond Public Library?
