Babytime Mondays in April | 9:15 AM and 10 AM Build early literacy skills with 15-20 minutes of songs, rhymes, and books followed by playtime. For infants 0-17 mo. and their caregivers. Monthly registration is required. One registration will get you signed up for all of the month’s sessions. |

Teen Advisory Board April 14 | 3:30 PM |
Students on the Teen Advisory Board (TAB) develop leadership skills and meet weekly during the school year to help plan teen programs, sign up for volunteer opportunities, give input regarding the teen area of the Library, and suggest teen books to be purchased by the Library. Silver Cord hours may be earned for these meetings if students participate in that program. For students in grades 7-12. Contact the library and ask for Ryan if you have any questions.

Pajama Storytime April 14 | 6:15 PM Put on your PJs and come to the Library for around 25 minutes of interactive bedtime songs, stories, and fun. For kids 0-5 years old and their caregivers. Registration is not required. |

Preschool Storytime Tuesdays in April | 1:30 PM Wednesdays in April | 10 AM Make a simple craft after 25-30 minutes of stories, songs, and rhymes. For kids 3.5-5 years old and their caregivers. Each session in the same week is a repeat event. Please limit attendance to one session per week. Monthly registration is required.

How to Backyard Compost April 22 | 6 PM Go green in your backyard as compost guru, Carissa Thoma from Down to Earth Living, shares her knowledge from her eight years of composting experience. Topics will include the compost process from start to finish, compost bin options, acceptable materials, and troubleshooting. Participants can take home a sample of premium compost! Registration is not required.

1,000 Books Graduation Dance Party April 26 | 10 AM You are invited to a celebration of your little one’s milestones! Feel free to dress in your best and stop by for a baby-friendly dance party and graduation celebration for our 1000 Books Before Kindergarten participants! If you aren’t already a part of the 1,000 Books program, you can sign-up at the event or at the library anytime. For kids 0-5 years old and their families. Registration is requested.

Laser Tag and Game Night April 27 | 6 PM Join us for an unforgettable night of friendly competition as we take over the library with a fun game of Laser Tag! Experience the thrill of a high-energy game at this after-hours event hosted by Lazer Alley. Team up with friends or make new ones in a battle for the top spot and relax with board games and Mario Kart in between bouts! This After-Hours event is for adults ages 18+. Registration is required.

Bricks & Beads April 30 | 2 PM Calling all crafty engineers! Get creative with the Library's LEGO collection or make a Perler bead design. Drop in any time during the hour-long program. For kids in grades K-12. Elementary-aged kids should be accompanied by an adult during the program. Registration is not required.

Mindful Teen April 30 | 2 PM Join the Dallas County Health Department as they share tips on how to be more mindful, reduce stress, and focus on mental well-being. Snacks will be provided as well! For students in grades 6-12. Registration is required.

The May adult maker pack contains supplies to complete a tiny art painting. Your artwork cannot be larger than 4”x4” and must be able to hang on one of our gallery hooks. Afternoon Book Club May 1 | 2:30 PM Meet in the Library’s Coal Mine Meeting Room at 2:30 PM on the first Thursday of each month (except January and July) for a lively discussion. Copies of each month’s book may be picked up at the Library’s front desk or during the meeting, while supplies last. This month we will discuss Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi. For adults ages 18+. Registration is not required.

Snacks & Facts May 2 | 11:30 AM No time to attend an evening or weekend program? Try our Snacks & Facts series! We’ll have a speaker the first Friday of each month (except December and July). Come ready to learn, and we’ll provide the snacks! Stick around afterward for Waukee Parks & Recreation’s bingo at 1 PM for $1 per play. This month, dive into Iowa’s WWII history with Michael Vogt of the Iowa Gold Star Military Museum. For adults, ages 18+. Registration is not required.

Summer Volunteen Training May 5 | 6 PM The Waukee Public Library needs volunteers during June and July to help with summer programs! After attending a training session students will receive a link to sign up for times to volunteer. Training for volunteering with the Summer Reading Challenge will take 30 minutes. Optionally, stay another 30 minutes for additional training to become a Thursday afternoon reading buddy. Reading buddies will be paired to read together with elementary students. For students entering grades 7-12 in the fall. Application completion is required. Please email completed application to rpenning@waukee.org.

Senior Tech Class: Digital Decluttering - Phones May 8 | 10 AM In this class, we'll cover the basics of organizing your digital life. We'll discuss how to understand your phone's memory space and how to see how much space you're using. We'll also discuss what types of files take up the most space, how to use external storage devices and cloud storage, and how to use Apple's suggestions for clearing space. Finally, we'll discuss how to organize your photos using the Photos app. For adults ages 18+. Registration is requested and opens on April 17.

Sensory Spaces May 10 | 3 PM During this hour, enjoy designated quiet browsing and inclusive programming for individuals with special sensory needs and their families or caregivers. There will be a dimmed calm room, natural lighting, computer availability, and access to library materials. This month, supplies for making flower crafts will be available. For all ages. Registration is requested and opens on April 19.
