Gingerbread House Challenge Drop-Off
Last Day to Drop-Off is Friday, December 5
Messenger Public Library Put your gingerbread house making skills to the test! Design your own gingerbread creation and bring it to the library from November 22-December 5. Enter as a family team or individually! Pick up a copy of the rules and entry form at any library service desk. Public voting and award presentation will be at our Holiday Open House on December 7.

Storywalk with University of Illinois Extension-Kane County

Library Lawn All ages. Join us for an outdoor storywalk on the library lawn with the book "My Five Senses" by Aliki. University of Illinois Extension-Kane County will be putting up pictures of the story for you to read and enjoy the outdoors. Drop-in program.

Kindness Hats
Last Day to Drop-Off is Tuesday, December 30
Messenger Public Library Use your love of knitting or crochet to keep our community warm this winter. Stop by the Adult Services Help Desk starting November 1 to check out a kit with yarn, needles/hooks, and patterns, or use your own materials. Hats made in any size and color are donated to local charities. Make one or make 100! Every single hat is appreciated. Bring completed hats to the library by December 30.

Talk: Text And Learn Now Available For Patrons! Sign up to get 8-10 text messages per month with fun activities you can do at home to help prepare little ones, ages 5 and under, for school success. Patrons can go to https://textandlearn.org and fill out the form to subscribe.

Running Behind with DuPage Children's Museum

Main Meeting Room Aimed at ages 0-5. Join us in our Main Meeting Room for a pop-up museum exhibit from the DuPage Children's Museum! Running Behind is designed to engage children in problem-solving, critical thinking, spatial awareness, and cooperative play. Children will play with speed, trial and error, and the scientific process while, most importantly, having fun! Drop-in program.

Book Subscription Theme Bags

Youth Services Ages 0-5. On the 10th of each month come pick up your bag with five books selected for you based on that month's theme. Each bag also includes some coloring sheets. Turn in your bag by the end of the month so we can refill it for the next month. Registration required. Must have a library card from Messenger Public Library.

Youth Services On December 10, January 10, and February 10, pick up a box with two books selected just for you. Each box also includes some treats for you to keep. Turn in your box by the end of the month to be eligible for the next month's box. Elementary ages may register for one: Picture Book Bags OR Book Boxes. Space is limited; registration required. Must have a current Messenger Public Library card to participate.

Youth Scientific Literature Program
Sunday, December 7, 2:00pm
Meeting Room 6 The Youth Scientific Literature Program is a program that teaches middle and high schoolers how to read and interpret scientific papers. Each meeting, a guest PhD student or college professor will breakdown a scientific paper from a high school journal, with a new scientific field being explored each week. Participants will also have the option to participate in the scientific research process themselves, in a topic of their interest, by compiling a literature review under mentorship. The Youth Scientific Literature Program is open to all those from ages middle to high school.
