STEM Playgroup will continue through most of October! These sessions feature Science, Technology, Engineering, (Art) & Math-based play for preschoolers. Registration is encouraged, but drop-ins are welcome. We would like to thank visiting educators from South Shore Family Network for sponsoring these workshops. The Playgroup will meet on the following Mondays at 10:30 a.m.: October 1st, 15th, & 22nd.

Storytimes offer your toddler the chance to develop important skills as well as a great giggle! Ages 2-5 are invited to Storytimes on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. Every week features a fun theme with songs, rhymes, movements, books, and a craft.

Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. are Baby Lapsits for ages 6-24 months. Lapsits feature songs, movements, and more you can do with your little one, followed by open playtime.

Grades K – 5 are welcome to come and build with the library LEGOs every month in LEGO Club! LEGO Club is designed to give kids a safe, creative environment in which they can freely build, interact with peers, and express themselves! Each month has a secret theme to encourage creative thinking. This month you can join us on Tuesday, October 9th from 4:00-5:00 p.m. in the Craft Room.

Mini Movers Friday, October 5th at 1:30 p.m. Toddlers (ages 2 to 5) can enjoy a creative movement lesson and storytime led by Miss Erin, owner and artistic director of Pembroke’s Etoile Dance + Yoga Studio. Pajama & Pumpkin Storytime Thursday, October 11th at 6:00 p.m. Ages 3-7 can join Miss Melisa and local author Louise Frizzell Ambrose in a special storytime featuring silly songs, a pumpkin craft, and Miss Louise reading her book The Little Orange Pumpkin. PJs are optional and the craft will be mess-free! Registration is encouraged, but drop-ins are welcome.

Make-a-Monster Storytime Thursday, October 18th at 3:30 p.m. Ages 4 – 8 can join Miss Rose in a frightfully good time with a reading of Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson. Following our story will be a craft of Play-Dough Monsters. Who can create the silliest or scariest monster? Kids Craft: Watercolor Spider Webs Tuesday, October 23rd at 4:00 p.m. Grades 2-6 can create a beautiful watercolor painting featuring a spider web design. Space is limited for this free workshop; please sign up by visiting or contacting the library.

Spooktacular: Signs & Sweets Monday, October 29th at 4:30 p.m. Each Trick-or-Treat station at the library will have an autumn-themed ASL sign to learn as well as plenty of treats. Join us at the Library for a fun night of face painting, crafts, activities, and costumes (encouraged, but not required). This event is free and open to all youth; allergen-friendly and non-food treats will be available.

Pop-Up Art: Day of the Dead Altars Saturday, October 27th at 1:00 p.m. Grades 6-12 are invited to create Day of the Dead altars or ofrendas. Celebrated primarily in Mexico, the Day of the Dead is a public holiday when families come together to honor and celebrate the lives of their deceased loved ones. The Pop up Art School will have everything you'll need to create an altar like those made for Día de los Muertos. You'll also learn some of the history and traditions behind the Day of the Dead. “Spooktacular” Teen Volunteers Needed Monday, October 29th (Sign up deadline is Wednesday, October 24th) Teen volunteers (grades 7-12) are needed for our Spooktacular event on Monday, October 29th. Activities will include craft assistance, face painting, and Trick-or-Treat station managing. Volunteers MUST turn in their volunteer form by the deadline. Forms may be picked up at the library beginning Monday, October 1st.
