Preschool Story Time
Mondays at 10:30 am and, Tuesdays at 1:30 pm
Children's Room
Each Preschool Story Time is concept driven with a different theme each week. We use rich books with engaging stories to explore our theme and we always involve music and movement as well as a craft or activity to extend the learning beyond the circle. Dates for April are 2, 3, 9, 10, 23, 24 and 30.

Mother Goose Story Time
Mondays at 1:30 pm and, Tuesdays at 10:30 am
Children's Room
Bring your infants and toddlers to our story time! We will explore Nursery Rhymes together through reading, repetition and recall. Each week we share 3 rhymes and we explore each rhyme for 3 weeks, building familiarity, understanding and confidence with language. Every week we utilize music and movement as well, we pair each rhyme to a song and explore bells, maracas and other simple instruments too. Dates for April are 2, 3, 9, 10, 23, 24 and 30.

Saturday Family Fun Terrariums and the Water Cycle
Saturday, April 7, 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Children's Room
Drop in the library and make your own closed terrarium and you can see the water cycle happen before your eyes. We will use old plastic jars with soil, gravel, a small plant to build a terrarium then we will add some water and close the lid. At home, place your terrarium near a window where it can receive sunlight without burning and you can watch the water cycle through vapor, condensation and precipitation.

Lego Club
Saturday, April 14, 10;00 am - 12:00 pm
Conference Room
Drop in for some free-style Lego building fun! We put out bins of assorted Lego pieces and you build whatever you can imagine. Place your completed piece on the table and we will show it off in our display case for the month, so all our patrons will see how creative our community is!

Mama and Baby Yoga

Come and learn a way to have fun with your baby and stay fit - it's Mom and Baby Yoga! We will offer 4 classes this month, every Thursday morning in April at 10:15. The class will be led by Tamar Jacobs, a certified yoga instructor from Blooming Lotus Wellness. Class is limited to 5 students each week and registration is required. You can find the registration link on our home page, under the Chidlren's Room header. THIS PROGRAM HAS BEEN FILLED BUT IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN HAVING US RUN THIS PROGRAM AGAIN PLEASE LET US KNOW. WE WOULD BE HAPPY TO OFFER THIS AGAIN IF THERE IS ENOUGH INTEREST.

Help build reading skills by having fun at the library! There will be an assortment of activities and games for all levels of readers - some examples are: letter hunting throughout the library for beginner, word building games for intermediary and sentence building games for advanced readers.

Chapter Cubs - New Session - Graphic Novels!
Wednesday, April 4 through May 28, Event Time
Children's Room
This session of Chapter Cubs will be a chance to explore a different type of reading material as opposed to a topic or share novel - this session we will read Graphic Novels. Choose any graphic novel that interests you and when we come together on May 28th, we will discuss our experience with graphic novels and compare them to regular novels we have read. We will talk about the use of multi media in our reading material and discuss if we think it strengthens or weakens the story telling and our reading experience. After our discussion we will watch The Peanuts Movie. The Peanuts began as a comic strip in the newspaper and has evolved into a special part of our culture, appearing as graphic novels and movies.

New Infant Play Area

As part of the Mind in the Making Grant we received from the Institute of Museum and Library Sciences, as part of the Library Services and Technology Act, and through the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners, we have created a cozy area in our Children's Room, specifically for infants and care givers to come and enjoy some safe, age appropriate play and opportunities for social interaction. In this area we have a soft mat and toys for gross motor play, as well as an assortment of sensory toys and vinyl books, which will be rotated as necessary to allow for variety of experiences through play.
