We use rich books with engaging stories to explore our theme and we always involve music and movement as well as a craft or activity to extend the learning beyond the circle. We will explore Nursery Rhymes together through reading, repetition and recall as we build familiarity, understanding and confidence with language. Every week we utilize music and movement as well,as we pair each rhyme to a song and explore simple instruments too. Interested in Monsters? Cryptids? Creatures of Myth and Legend? Join our Monster Squad and explore a new monster each month! Leader Laura Lupin will profile a new monster monthly - sharing information, history and ideas - a discussion with refreshments will follow and we will decide if there can be any truth to the stories, then we will wrap up with a craft or project.

Family Card Game Night
Wednesday, October 9, 6:00-7:00 pm
Children's Room
Drop in the library and learn a kid friendly card games. We will use standard, regular cards - no special decks required - and no notepad needed to keep score. We will play games like: Old Maid, Snap, Crazy Eights, Slapjack, and Garbage, to name a few. This is a great way to learn new games and ways to keep kids busy and entertained and the only thing you need is a standard deck of cards!

Drop in for some free-style Lego building fun! We put out bins of assorted Lego pieces and you build whatever you can imagine. Place your completed piece on the table and we will show it off in our display case for the month, so all our patrons will see how creative our community is!

Families will be welcome to keep the copy of the book under discussion to help build a strong library at home!

The last Friday of the month will be a Family Fun Movie Night - Starting at 4 we will show on of the latest DVD movie releases we receive that month. Feel free to wear your PJs, bring a snack and a snuggle and spend a Friday Night at the library sharing a fun family movie together. Most children's movies run approximately 80-90 minutes so we should be done before 6 pm.
