Preschool Story Time Mondays at 10:30 am , Tuesdays at 1:30 pm Children's Room Each Preschool Story Time is concept driven with a different theme each week. We use rich books with engaging stories to explore our theme and we always involve music and movement as well as a craft or activity to extend the learning beyond the circle. Dates for Preschool story times in February are: 4, 5, 11, 12, 19, 25 and 26.

Infant and Toddler Story Time Mondays at 1:30 pm, Tuesdays at 10:30 am Children's Room Bring your infants and toddlers to our story time! We will explore Nursery Rhymes together through reading, repetition and recall as we build familiarity, understanding and confidence with language. Every week we utilize music and movement as well,as we pair each rhyme to a song and explore simple instruments too. Dates for Infant and Toddler story times in February are: 4, 5, 11, 12, 19, 25 and 26.

Lego Club Saturday, February 9, from 10 am - 12 pm and Monday, February 11, 6:00-7:30 pm Conference Room Drop in for some free-style Lego building fun! We put out bins of assorted Lego pieces and you build whatever you can imagine. Place your completed piece on the table and we will show it off in our display case for the month, so all our patrons will see how creative our community is!

Neptune the Reading Dog Wednesday, February 6, 4:00 pm Children's Room Readers of all abilities can increase confidence and skill by reading out loud to this wonderful, friendly and calm dog.

Family Card Game Night Wednesday, February 13, 6:00-7:00 pm Children's Room Drop in the library and learn a kid friendly card games. We will use standard, regular cards - no special decks required - and no notepad needed to keep score. We will play games like: Old Maid, Snap, Crazy Eights, Slapjack, and Garbage, to name a few. This is a great way to learn new games and ways to keep kids busy and entertained and the only thing you need is a standard deck of cards! February we will learn to play SNAP

Boston Bruins Pajama Drive Begins Wednesday, February 6th, through Wednesday. February 27th Donation Bin Near Front Desk Donate pajamas for kids ages 0-16 to the Boston Bruins PJ Drive here. The Plainville Library is once again participating in the statewide library initiative to collect over 5000 new pajamas for kids in need this winter. All donations stay in Massachusetts to help kids stay warm. Drop your new PJs into our donation bin in front of the circulation desk and be sure to enter your name and phone number to be entered to win an "An Unlikely Story" Tshirt and a brand new activity book.

Saturday Family Fun Groundhog Day Activities Saturday, February 2, 10:00 am - 1:00 pm Children's Room It's February 2 - that special day in the Groundhog year when we look to them to predict our future - will we have more winter or is spring already on its way? Stop in the library and make a Groundhog Peeking Pop Up, color a groundhog picture and do some shadow drawing. Drop in, all ages are welcome.

F.A.I.R. - Family Adventures in Reading Wednesday, February 20, 4:00 - 5:00 pm Children's Room
FEBRUARY TITLE: The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle
We will explore books, looking at many different aspects of the book, to build book knowledge. We will discuss the book such as format, text font, presentation, etc, then we will read the story and share our thoughts then we will have an activity to tie it all together as we enjoy some refreshments. Families will be welcome to keep the copy of the book under discussion to help build a strong library at home!

FEBRUARY MONSTER: FRANKENSTEIN'S MONSTER
Interested in Monsters? Cryptids? Creatures of Myth and Legend? Join our Monster Squad and explore a new monster each month! Leader Laura Lupin will profile a new monster monthly - sharing information, history and ideas - a discussion with refreshments will follow and we will decide if there can be any truth to the stories, then we will wrap up with a craft or project.

Friday Family Movie Night Friday, February 22, 4:00 - 5:30 pm Children's Room
FEBRUARY MOVIE: RATED G, RUN TIME 88 Minutes Here's what our new movie is all about: Set in St. Augustine, Florida, this movie is a family adventure about a brother and sister who befriend a badly sunburned dolphin separated from his family and uncover a secret plan that could destroy the beach and their new friend's home. The kids must devise a clever plan to stop the bad guys, protect the sea life, and, most importantly, save their best friend, Bernie. The last Friday of the month will be a Family Fun Movie Night - Starting at 4 we will show on of the latest DVD movie releases we receive that month. Feel free to wear your PJs, bring a snack and a snuggle and spend a Friday Night at the library sharing a fun family movie together. Most children's movies run approximately 80-90 minutes so we should be done before 6 pm.

Cabin Fever - February Vacation Fun! Tuesday, February 19 through Friday, February 22, All Day Children's Room Don’t get stuck at home – cure your cabin fever with a trip to the library! Each day we have some fun activities planned: Tuesday, February 19: Origami and Paper Plane Fun – Can you make a plane that will soar across the entire library? Try your hands at making origami animals! Wednesday, February 20: Mini Golf in the library? Drop in and putt around from 11 am – 5 pm. Later you can play some Phonics games from 6 – 7 pm and end the night with some fun picture books for PJ Story Time. Thursday, February 21: Arts and Crafts Free For All! We’ll supply a variety of recycle items and art media, you bring your creativity and imagination! Drop in for all ages from 10 am – 1:30 pm. Friday, February 22: Movie Day Mania! We will have winter themed family friendly movies all day in the Children’s Room and we will end the night with our special Friday Family Movie Night brand new title! Movies will run from 1 – 5:30 pm. Here’s a clue about the Family Movie Night flick: Come watch a brother and sister save a wounded dolphin and uncover a sinister plot that could destroy the beach!
