Library will closed August 22 through Labor Day: Beginning Wednesday, August 22 through Labor Day the Plainville Public Library will be closed for public safety reasons as part of the Municipal Complex work to redesign the parking and entry while also replacing the library roof. So stock up ahead of time - our computer doesn’t stop us until you have 100 items checked out. While the library is closed all due dates for all formats will be extended until September 4 - so starting 8/8, 2 week and 4 week items will be due back on September 4. And I would be early on August 15 to get the best selection of movies to keep out until September 4. All holds and museum passes must be picked up on August 21 or before or they will available when library reopens on September 4. Items can still be returned at the Book Return in the Wood School parking lot on Messenger Street or at any SAILS Network library. Your SAILS Library Card works in all of our neighboring libraries and you are welcome to visit any of them to check out items or use their computers. Thank you for your understanding during this unique situation. Libraries Rock! Toe Jam Puppet Band at the Park
Wednesday, August 8, 6:00pm
Telford Park
Formed in 2000, the Toe Jam Puppet Band offers a special brand of hands-on children's entertainment that grown-ups can actually enjoy. The Dynamic group is great with kids, but best when parents are having fun with the little ones. The performances are very active, encouraging kids and parents to sing and dance along with the band as they entertain with a unique combination of original songs, masterful shadow puppetry, storytelling and just plain old good fun. Sponsored by the Richard Charlton Music Fund with thanks to the Plainville Park Commissioners

Rock and Roll and Read Magic Show
Wednesday, August 22, 6:00pm
Telford Park
Using hilarious comedy, amazing magic, crazy puppets, music, sound effects and riveting storytelling, the show will help even reluctant readers build positive associations with books and inspire kids to read! Rock, Roll and Read revolves around the books kids love, including Olivia Forms a Band, Fab Four Friends: The Boys Who Became the Beatles, and Pete the Cat: Rocking in My School Shoes. Young readers will have a blast when they become a human xylophone that plays a mentally selected song. They'll be amazed when they see a drawing of a rock legend come to life! Suitable for ages 3 and up.
