Movies to download and watch at home Kanopy! A New Streaming Video Service, with over 30,000 films The Grand County Library District digital collection just got a whole lot bigger. Grand County Library card holders can access the popular on-demand film streaming service Kanopy starting January 1st 2018. Providing “thoughtful entertainment,” Kanopy users have access to unique films including documentaries by award-winning filmmakers, many BBC specials, as well as indie hits. Films can be streamed from any computer, television, mobile device or platform including AppleTV, Chromecast and Roku. If binge-watching is your thing, Grand County library cardholders can stream up to 30 films per month. Create a login and try it out after Jan 1, 2018 at https://gcld.kanopystreaming.com

Access Grand Starting in 2018, you can check out passes for the following cultural and recreational organizations from a Grand County library branch. Access Music: Tickets to Grand County Concert Series classical music concerts. Access History: Day Passes Museum Membership to Cozen’s Ranch, Pioneer Village, and Heritage Park Museums, Day Passes for the Grand Lake Area Museums. Access Recreation: Daily passes for the Silverthorne Recreation Center, and Grand Park Recreation Center. Access Skiing: Lift ticket vouchers for Ski Granby Ranch *, daily ski passes for the Grand Lake Nordic Center, daily ski passes for Devil’s Thumb Ranch Nordic Center, Need the passes for a particular day or weekend? Contact your librarian to reserve a pass in advance for use on a specific date. All passes check out for a five-day loan. American Government Primer Series Wednesday, January 3, 10, 17, 31 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Fraser Valley Library Attorney Sarah Coleman, will be teaching a four-part class on the American government and civics at the Crested Butte Library on the four Wednesday nights of January 3, 10, 17 and 31. The Grand County community can attend via satellite at the Fraser Valley Library from 6-8 p.m. on those same evenings. You can attend one, some, or all of the classes. The goal for the course is for you understand your government on a deeper level and to engage with your government with greater confidence

Lego @ the Library Friday, January 5 and 19 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. Granby Library If you’re a great LEGO builder, or a first timer, this is the place for you. The program is open to anyone interested, and there is no need to sign up. Children and parents are encouraged to build, design, create objects, buildings, bridges, whatever they can imagine. Heidi McNinch will be on hand to help or guide those who need encouragement and she has created some samples that can be copied or viewed as starting points.

Take away a foundational technique for stimulating the relaxation response in your body, and tools that you may implement immediately to stay connected to your best self, and bring all of who you are into everything you do.
