Library News 6-6-25
Our Summer Reading Program kicked off with a big splash of color! Adults learned about the Monuments Men, who helped preserve cultural history during WWII and kids and their stuffed animals had fun making their own puzzles and exploring the library. Kids also had the opportunity to create hanging yarn art with LV Arts.

People Making History: Le Duan, Le Duc Tho and Vietnam's American War

Dr. Martin Clemis discusses how Le Duan, the North Vietnamese Communist Party leader, along with his trusted deputy Le Duc Tho, were the architects of the regime’s full-scale military force to stimulate a mass political uprising in South Vietnam, which led
to the eventual U.S. defeat and withdrawal from
the war several years later.

Summer Reading Challenge
Our reading caterpillar is growing!
Each colored circle on the caterpillar represents a book that a child has read
for the Summer Reading Challenge. We had more than 100 turned in on Wednesday! You can still sign up for the reading challenge.

  • Kids: pick up a paint palette to track your reading yourself and add to our caterpillar.
  • Adults: we are not tracking adult books on the caterpillar, but so far, 77 books and 23 reviews have been logged.
Once Upon A Canvas
We have some talented staff members here at the Library! Several of them have created mini masterpieces based on their favorite children's book. Check out their creativity in the display case next to the East Room and vote for your favorite through July 31. The winning staff member will get a special prize.
