Tales to Tails* Thursday, November 6, 5:30-7:00 pm Children of all ages are invited to boost their reading skills and make a furry new friend by reading aloud to Shakespeare, a certified therapy dog from the Independence Fire Department. Shakespeare has passed both obedience and temperament tests and receives regular veterinary care, making him a perfect, patient listener for young readers. Private 15-minute reading sessions are available between 5:30 and 7:00 PM at the library. *Advance registration is required, and a signed parental consent form must be submitted before participating. To reserve a time slot and find out more information, email iplprograms@independenceia.gov or call the library at 319-334-2470. |

Minecraft* Friday, November 14, 5:00-8:00 pm Join TJ from Network Nirvana at IPL for the new season of Minecraft! In the Season of the Alpacalypse, players will work together to stop the “Alpaca Scourge” from invading LlamaLand! Pizza provided by Pizza Ranch is included in this fun after-hours event! This program is appropriate for students in grades 5-12. *Registration is required – register by emailing iplprograms@independenceia.gov, calling 319-334-2470, or stopping into the library. |

Thank a Vet Cards Last Day is Tuesday, November 4 We owe so much to our Veterans who have honorably served our country. Tell them we appreciate their sacrifice and selflessness by filling out one or more cards available at the library to thank local Veterans. Tuesday, November 11 The Independence Public Library will be closed all day on Tuesday, November 11. We will reopen at 10:00 am on Wednesday, November 12, and close early at 5:00 pm for staff development. |
