VPLDA Award for MRSPLMRSPL Wins Two 2026 Awards from the Virginia Public Library
Directors Association 
Mary Riley Riley Styles Public Library has received two awards - for Impactful Technology Use and for Outstanding Staff Member - from the Virginia Public Library Directors Association (VPLDA). Both awards focused on Virginia libraries serving under 25,000 people. MRSPL also again received VPLDA's Gold Standard for Excellence. The 2026 VPLDA Award for Outstanding Staff Member of the Year was given to Adult Services Librarian Peter Sullivan for his leadership, innovation, and dedication in launching Mary Riley Styles Public Library’s new Digital Archive. 9th Street Quartet's "Sounds of Home at 250," presented by Little City Concerts, explores the idea of belonging, highlighting some of the diverse voices and histories that shape current American life. The program will feature excerpts from works by Jessie Montgomery, Kevin Puts, Steven Snowden, Jerod Impichchaachaaha' Tate, Stephen Gorbos, Gabriela Lena Frank, and Reena Esmail -- composers whose musical voices represent a broad spectrum of American experience.
