MRSPL and Bards Alley Bookshop are excited to co-host the return of author Brendan Slocumb for a discussion of his new novel, The Dark Maestro. This mesmerizing page-turner is about a young Black musical virtuoso who’s forced into hiding when his family runs afoul of a ruthless criminal organization - and how he fights back, using music to bring his enemies to justice. Mr. Slocumb is the author of two previously published mystery novels, The Violin Conspiracy and Symphony of Secrets. Copies of the author's books will be available for sale at the program or you can reserve copies by contacting Bards Alley Bookshop. A book signing will follow the author talk.

National Voter Registration Day

In observance of Constitution Day and National Voter Registration Day, the League of Women Voters of Falls Church (LWVFC) and MRSPL are sponsoring a voter registration and information table in the library on Tuesday, September 16, from 10 am - 8 pm. Volunteers from LWVFC will be on hand with voter registration forms and information about elections and voting.

Learn how to select plants -- including trees, shrubs, and perennials -- to welcome pollinators through all four seasons, and explore using native plants to support a variety of pollinators, especially insects throughout their life cycle.

Learn about Lyme disease at this lecture by Dr. Boileau, retired George Mason University professor, and his wife, a member of the National Capital Lyme Disease Board of Directors. They will discuss the presence of the disease in our region, along with testing procedures and prevention methods. Dr. Boileau has himself had Lyme disease.
