Weaving Stories: Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage
Celebrate Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander heritage with SFPL’s Weaving Stories! Enjoy music, dance, film, author talks and creative workshops for all ages, both virtually and in-person. This year’s featured artist is Jenifer Wofford, a celebrated San Francisco artist and educator known for her vibrant, thought-provoking work exploring culture, history and identity.

Calling all music lovers: Bay Beats, SFPL's popular local music platform, highlights our 2025 submissions round with a bandshell blast! Come celebrate spring and free music in Golden Gate Park with three great Bay Beats artists:

  • 3:30 - Piwai - Neo-AfroPop
  • 4:30 - The Grease Traps - Funk & Soul
Kicking off its third year, Bay Beats is an integral part of the Bay Area music scene. The diversity of this show reflects the wide range of music on the vibrant Bay Beats platform.
The Bandshell Blast is also brought to you by Bay Area music boosters, Illuminate, San Francisco Recreation and Parks, Amoeba Music, White Crate and BFF.fm. Come meet them at this outdoor fest, and let's dance!

This exhibit explores Mary Shelley's themes—science and AI, queerness and identity, and modern disconnection—through bold, mixed-media works by artists from the U.S. and Europe. Literature and visual art converge to spark reflection on what it means to be human.

The Real World: Comic Art From The Schmulowitz Collection of Wit & Humor For over a century, comics have offered humor, insight, and comfort in turbulent times. This exhibit surveys the evolution of comic art—from European roots to American icons, including early strips, women cartoonists, and unforgettable characters. Materials are drawn from SFPL’s Schmulowitz Collection of Wit & Humor (SCOWAH).

Get Busy: LGBTQIA Zines from the Bay and Beyond When mainstream media fell short, LGBTQIA creators made zines—bold, DIY publications that centered queer voices, challenged norms, and sparked activism. Get Busy showcases zines from the 1960s to today, drawn from SFPL collections and community partners. A celebration of queer expression, resistance, and connection.

San Francisco Small Business Week (May 5–9, 2025), founded by the SF Chamber of Commerce, celebrates local entrepreneurs with workshops, networking, and events focused on collaboration under the theme “Rising Together.” SF Public Library supports with panels and workshops empowering small business growth. Join us to connect, learn, and thrive! Small Business Week is a partnership with the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce, SF LGBT Center, Glen Park Merchants Association, San Francisco Disability Business Alliance and the San Francisco Office of Small Business.
