(Northport) Sunday, February 1, 2:00 p.m.
 
Sympatico is a traditional jazz quartet consisting of piano, upright bass, drums/percussion,
and a lead vocalist. They play an eclectic collection of tunes—nostalgic and current—that feature the music of pop performers such as Burt Bacharach and Sérgio Mendes. The band’s vocalist, Toni Washington, explores the songs of the great female singers including Nina
Simone, Etta James, and more. Registration is underway.

Opera Talk: Porgy and Bess
(Northport) Friday, February 13, 7:00 p.m.

Experience the history, music, and controversy of Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess. Hosted by Tanisha, this program features live performances of legendary selections and an in-depth
look at the opera’s cultural impact. Dive deep into the archives of past productions and
engage in a vital community conversation: Is Porgy and Bess truly a Black opera?

Cold Chocolate
(Northport) Sunday, February 15, 2:00 p.m.

Cold Chocolate is a genre-bending Americana band from Boston that fuses folk, funk, and bluegrass to create a unique sound all their own. They feature their original music, tight harmonies, skilled musicianship, and high energy shows.

Stuffed Animal Sleepover

Families with children 3 years and up

Bring in your stuffed animal for a special storytime and leave them in the Library overnight for a slumber party. Pick up your furry friend on Saturday between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. and find out how they spent their night!

Registration for the following Teen Volunteer Opportunities begins February 2.
Open to students in grades 7–12.
Open only to Northport-East Northport Public Library cardholders.
 
All volunteer items are to be picked up from the Northport Teen Center by February 17 and returned by February 27 to earn community service credit. You may choose a maximum of two volunteer opportunities in addition to Teen Advisory Board.
