Concerts in the Library Courtyard
The following outdoor concerts will be held in the Northport Library Courtyard.
Seating will be provided, or you may bring a blanket and find a spot on the
Library Courtyard lawn.
 
All are welcome. No registration required.
 

“Pure Joy” with Paige Patterson
(Northport) Tuesday, July 8, 7:00 p.m.
(rain date: Wednesday, July 9)
Paige will take you on a musical odyssey as you enjoy songs ranging from Bon Jovi to Broadway, Santana to Sinatra, Motown, contemporary pop, and much more.
 
 
Just Sixties
(Northport) Tuesday, July 15, 7:00 p.m.
(rain date: Wednesday, July 16)
As the longest- running sixties band
in the United States, Just Sixties plays all the classics as well as tells stories and displays video clips of Americana culture from the era.
 
The Hambones
(Northport) Tuesday, July 22, 7:00 p.m.
(rain date: Wednesday, July 23)
The Hambones make their Northport Library debut with an awesome mix of classic country and rock ‘n’ roll.
 
 
 
The Band Easy Street
(Northport) Tuesday, July 29, 7:00 p.m.
(rain date: Wednesday, July 30)
Best known for its dance and party sounds, Easy Street’s engaging performance will entertain with a wide variety of music from the 60s to today.
 
 

 
Seed Library
Our Seed Library is now open! The collection includes vegetable, flower, and herb seeds and is available in both buildings. (NENPL patrons only, please).

Suffolk County Library Summer Tour
July 1 through August 31, bring your “Summer Tour” booklet with you as you visit public
libraries all across Suffolk County! Stop by the Circulation Desk in either library building to pick up your free booklet and get started. As you travel around the County, find the unique “Color Swatch” at each library and then locate the “Stamp Station” to receive a stamp in your booklet.
At 5, 15, and 25 library visits, you will be entered into fun raffles.
 
At your 25th library, you will officially be a “Summer Tour Library Artist” and receive a special commemorative patch (while supplies last).
 
Have fun exploring the public libraries of Suffolk County this summer!

  • Steve Petra's Carnival of Colors - Watch what happens when Steve Petra’s cast of crazy characters are in a room filled with unlimited art supplies. Be prepared to laugh!
  • Wing-It Wednesday - Enjoy a room full of craft projects to make and take home. (drop in; no registration required)
  • Shark Bingo - Enjoy a picture version of the familiar game of Bingo with the whole family. Everyone wins a prize!
  • Family Drum Circle - Explore musical traditions from around the world in this hands-on experience with musician Michael Rodgers.

Children's Summer Reading Club

Now through – August 9
Join our summer reading challenge on Beanstack!
Keep track of the books you read to earn badges and prizes. Children birth–2 years will earn a prize after 30 books. Children 3 years and up who read or listen to six hours will earn tickets to the Reward Show!


 
WhaZoodle is a new all-audio device designed for kids, offering a curated selection of podcasts, music, short stories, and more. It supports learning and development while prioritizing children's privacy and safety.

Teen Summer Reading Club

Now through – August 9
Summer is the time to read, learn new skills, try some new activities, and have fun! “Color Our World” is this year’s Teen Summer Reading Club theme.

For each book review submitted, you will receive a raffle ticket to put towards your choice of one of our 12 raffle baskets. All teens will receive a tie-dye string back-pack and a Frisbee upon completion of their first book review. Items may be picked up at the Teen Centers
(while supplies last).

 
Babysitting Workshop
Registration is underway. Limited seats may be available.
(Northport) Thursday, July 3, 1:00–4:00 p.m.

An instructor from Cornell Cooperative Extension
of Suffolk County will teach you about keeping children
entertained and safe in this interactive program.
A certificate will be issued at the end of the class.

Teen Volunteer Opportunities
Registration for the following Teen Volunteer Opportunities begins July 1.
Open to students entering grades 7–12.
Open to NENPL cardholders only.

All volunteer items are to be picked up from the Northport Teen Center by July 21 and returned by July 31 to earn community service credit. Teens may participate in a total of two volunteer opportunities in addition to "Tiny Art Show Volunteers."

All Booked Up and Novel Ideas
Both groups will return in September. Titles have been selected, and participants are asked to procure their own copy of the book to read over the summer. Additional copies will be available for pick up at the Northport Adult Reference Desk when the August newsletter is printed. The selected titles are:
