Onondaga Hill Fire Dept. Open House

October is Fire Prevention Month and what better way to celebrate than with your local neighborhood firefighters- Join us at OHDF’s annual open house! Firehouse and apparatus tours, meet OHFD's firefighters and watch live demonstrations.

Pokémon Trading Card Game
Date/Time: Monday, 10/6 at 6pm

Enjoy a fun game of strategy and partnership while battling new friends with Pokémon cards.  All skill levels are welcome!

Indigenous Peoples' Day Festival
Date/Time: Sunday, 10/12, 11am-5pm
Presenter: Onondaga Nation & Neighbors of the Onondaga Nation/Syracuse Peace Council
Location: OFFSITE: Onondaga Nation Fieldhouse- 3370 Route 11A
Come enjoy traditional Haudenosaunee song and dance at the 3rd Indigenous Peoples’ Day Festival on Onondaga land! Be sure to stop by the Onondaga County Public Libraries table and you may recognize a OFL face or two!

Mini Pumpkin & Gourd Coloring
Dates/Time: Thursday, 10/30 & Friday 10/31, All Day Event
Presenter: OFL's Children's Librarian

Stop in during the library's open hours starting Thursday, October 30th and/or Friday October 31st to color some mini pumpkins and gourds in the Children's Non-Fiction area! We will have a selection of acrylic paint markers, and an assortment of small gourds for you to create a myriad of tiny festive gourds to bring home a celebrate Spooky Season.

Family Storytime

Baby Book Club
Date/Time: Friday, 10/17, 10:30- 11:00am

Join our Baby Book Club! We will have several copies of the book of the month. We can all hold, and read the same book together, and, just like our Family Storytime, we will do some simple finger plays and rhymes, all wrapped up a baby-appropriate chunk of time of just half an hour. Our book in October will be Mister Kitty is Lost by Greg Pizzoli

Family Play & Caregiver Meetup
Days/Time: Fridays, 10:00-11:30am
Presenter: OFL's Children's Librarian
Location: Play & Learn Room
Playing is learning! Babies, toddlers and preschoolers along with their parents/caregivers are invited to spend time in OFL's playroom to play together and socialize. Children get the chance to interact with each other while parents/grandparents and other caregivers meet and chat. Special age appropriate toys will be featured in this program.
