ADHD for Smart Ass Women: How to Fall in Love with Your Neurodivergent Brain
by Tracy Otsuka

"As an adult woman with ADHD, this book helped me to better understand my brain in a way that was easy to read and relatable. It's also just a good way to keep 2026 going: finding out you aren't alone and there are people out there like you, and that's super special." ~Robyn

With her signature wit and levity--in entertaining chapters designed for ADHD readers--Otsuka explores the unique challenges that ADHD women face and illuminates the extraordinary qualities that set them apart: overflowing creativity, laser-focused attention, deep empathy, and fearless entrepreneurial spirit. Even without an official diagnosis, readers will be equipped with the tools to conquer any to-do list and to tap into their true purpose, personally or professionally. By dismantling the long-standing stereotypes and misinformation surrounding women with ADHD, Otsuka offers a beacon of hope for any woman looking to transform her symptoms into strengths.

Seven Summers by Paige Toon
Seven Summers
by Paige Toon

"I loved this book, despite the emotional roller coaster I went on while reading it! I have already read a few other books by Paige Toon, and I have been loving her writing style, plots, and characters so far. She is a great choice for readers interested in modern romance stories that take place in the UK/ Wales/ Scotland. Her books tend to be a good hearty mix of lightheartedness and seriousness in the adult romance genre, and I find even the way she writes explicit or intimate scenes between characters is not too graphic or long, and still satisfying. Her books are really quick to get through, so they're a great choice for getting out of a reading slump." ~Rushali

The Murderbot Diaries Vol. 1: All Systems Red, Artificial Condition by Martha Wells
The Murderbot Diaries Vol. 1: All Systems Red, Artificial Condition
by Martha Wells

"The Murderbot Diaries series is possibly my favorite books series I've ever read. These books are easy-to-read novellas that you just can't set down. I highly recommend the Kevin R. Free audiobooks, and if you have Apple TV, the first book was just adapted into a TV show!" ~Sophie

On a distant planet, a team of scientists are conducting surface tests, shadowed by their Company-supplied 'droid -- a self-aware SecUnit that has hacked its own governor module, and refers to itself (though never out loud) as Murderbot. Scornful of humans, all it really wants is to be left alone long enough to figure out who it is (and to watch its favorite show in its downtime.) But when a neighboring mission goes dark, it's up to the scientists and Murderbot to get to the truth. Then, In Artificial Condition Murderbot teams up with a Research Transport vessel named ART (you don't want to know what the A stands for), and together, they infiltrate the mining facility where Murderbot went rogue to try to understand its past. What it discovers will forever change the way it thinks...

The Secret Lives of Booksellers and Librarians: True Stories of the Magic of Reading by James Patterson
The Secret Lives of Booksellers and Librarians: True Stories of the Magic of Reading
by James Patterson

"I was in a major reading slump when I saw this book come into the library. I was intrigued by the title and, though I'm not a big reader of non-fiction, I was quickly drawn in! It is a charming collection of stories from "book people" all over the country and it reminded why I love reading! Got me right out of my reading slump!" ~Alison

To be a bookseller or librarian ... You have to play detective. Be a treasure hunter. A matchmaker. An advocate. A visionary. A person who creates book joy by pulling a book from a shelf, handing it to someone and saying, You've got to read this. You're going to love it. When the pandemic started, Patterson launched a movement, #SaveIndieBookstores and] pledged half a million dollars, and, with the support of the American Booksellers Association and the Book Industry Charitable Foundation, the campaign ended up raising $1,239,595 from more than eighteen hundred donors...Somehow, the bookstore outlived the pandemic. Why? The Secret Lives of Booksellers and Librarians, compiled by James Patterson and Matt Eversmann, suggests a few reasons.

My Friends by Fredrik Backman
My Friends
by Fredrik Backman

Most people don't even notice them--three tiny figures sitting at the end of a long pier in the corner of one of the most famous paintings in the world. Most people think it's just a depiction of the sea. But Louisa, an aspiring artist herself, knows otherwise, and she is determined to find out the story of these three enigmatic figures. Twenty-five years earlier, in a distant seaside town, a group of teenagers find refuge from their bruising home lives by spending long summer days on an abandoned pier, telling silly jokes, sharing secrets, and committing small acts of rebellion. These lost souls find in each other a reason to get up each morning, a reason to dream, a reason to love. Out of that summer emerges a transcendent work of art, a painting that will unexpectedly be placed into eighteen-year-old Louisa's care. She embarks on a surprise-filled cross-country journey to learn how the painting came to be and to decide what to do with it. The closer she gets to the painting's birthplace, the more nervous she becomes about what she'll find. Louisa is proof that happy endings don't always take the form we expect in this stunning testament to the transformative, timeless power of friendship and art.

The maid : a novel by Nita Prose
The maid : a novel
by Nita Prose

"When this book first came out, I was in a bit of a reading slump, which was embarrassing to me at the time, because I'd just recently started working at the Library. I like to think this books singlehandedly pulled me out of the slump and got me excited to read again. I'm sure I've thrown this book and/or its sequels on the Staff Picks newsletter before, but it really is just that good. I love Molly, the main character. She's just such a lovable character to me, and the story is just phenomenal. I first read this as a physical book, but then later reread the audiobook, and both are a great way to read the story. " ~Alyssa

When she discovers the dead body of the infamous and wealthy Charles Black in his suite, hotel maid Molly Gray finds her orderly life upended as she becomes the prime suspect in the case and is caught in a web of deception that she has no idea how to unravel.

Babel: Or the Necessity of Violence by R. F. Kuang
Babel: Or the Necessity of Violence
by R. F. Kuang

Traduttore, traditore: An act of translation is always an act of betrayal. 1828. Robin Swift, orphaned by cholera in Canton, is brought to London by the mysterious Professor Lovell. There, he trains for years in Latin, Ancient Greek, and Chinese, all in preparation for the day he'll enroll in Oxford University's prestigious Royal Institute of Translation--also known as Babel. Babel is the world's center for translation and, more importantly, magic. Silver working--the art of manifesting the meaning lost in translation using enchanted silver bars--has made the British unparalleled in power, as its knowledge serves the Empire's quest for colonization. For Robin, Oxford is a utopia dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge. But knowledge obeys power, and as a Chinese boy raised in Britain, Robin realizes serving Babel means betraying his motherland. As his studies progress, Robin finds himself caught between Babel and the shadowy Hermes Society, an organization dedicated to stopping imperial expansion. When Britain pursues an unjust war with China over silver and opium, Robin must decide ... Can powerful institutions be changed from within, or does revolution always require violence?
