WELCOME TO ALL AROUND THE APL!
We have added quite a few new subscribers over the last few months, so it seems fitting to welcome ALL our readers, both new and established.  (You can thank us later for not using the word "old".) The very first edition of this newsletter was sent on May 15, 2020 to a whopping 23 people. It was started as another way to reach out to our community during the pandemic and has slowly grown, evolved and adapted into the newsletter we have now. Although we do try to have it land in your inbox on the first of every month, sometimes "snowmageddons", staff training schedules and other delightful events might lead to a day or two delay. Thank you for your patience.  Happy reading!

PSSSST! WE HAVE BIG THINGS COMING...
OCLN is making some exciting changes...
In simplest terms, we are in the process of partnering with a new software provider which should lead to an overall better experience on both the staff side and the patron side of the computer.  We will have a whole lot of information coming your way before we go live in late April, but in the meantime we are busy doing all the training we can to make this transition as seamless as possible!

       Abington Reads 2026
Ignore all the snow on the ground because spring is coming and with spring comes our One Book, One Community programming!  We are excited to announce that this year's Abington Reads selection is The Rembrandt Heist:  The Story of a Criminal Genius, A Stolen Masterpiece, and an Enigmatic Friendship and Author Anthony Amore will be giving a keynote address at the Abington Public Library on Thursday, March 26. More information will be forthcoming but this is your reminder to save the date and put a copy of the book on hold today!
CHILDRENS
Take Your Child To the Library Day!
We like to think that every day is Take Your Child to the Library Day, but it has officially been declared to be the first Saturday in February and we plan to celebrate! Come on by on Saturday 2/7 for a full day of fun, starting with Family Story Hour at 11:00,  a scavenger hunt and Valentine's crafting in the Children's Room all day, and finishing up with a family movie at 2:00. Come any part of the day you can and enjoy the fun the Abington Public Library has to offer.
Looking for more events in February? Our printable calendar has the days, times and descriptions of all our programs for kids and is available at the Children's desk!

PJ Drive
The Abington Public Library and other libraries throughout the state are once again teaming up with the Boston Bruins, Cradles to Crayons and DCF/Wonderfund to collect pajamas for kids in need from February 1 to March 15. The goal is to collect 10,000 pairs of NEW children's pajamas!  We have a collection box in the Children's Room and are always overjoyed to see it overflowing. Thank you to all who donate to this cause, to our ongoing food drive and to those who simply help one another throughout the course of the day through acts of kindness and compassion. These are the things that make our community so special and we are grateful.

Show Some Love!
If you love your local library, we would truly appreciate if you could take a moment and stop by the front of the library and "send" us a card. These little love notes from people who value our library and the services we provide are helpful, tangible reminders to our State Reps that their continued support of library services is vital to the community.
Before we go, let's have a quick chat about tough topics.
In joy...
There are so many wonderful things about life.  Maybe you are a fan of the winter Olympics (796.98) and want to know more about Milan (914.5) and brush up on your Italian cooking (641.5945).  Perhaps you are taking up photography (770) in order to take fantastic pictures of your new pet fish (639.34).  Our nonfiction section is chock full of books thoughtfully selected to address any manner of needs.  However, it is the tough topics that people might be reluctant to ask for.  The internet is full of information, misinformation and disinformation, and the rabbit holes of reels can often leave people more confused and overwhelmed than ever.  Let us help you locate books and resources that might help.
