ABINGTON READS 2026
Abington Reads 2026 is here!  The month of March will be dedicated to our book selection,
The Rembrandt Heist:  The Story of a Criminal Genius, A Stolen Masterpiece, and an Enigmatic Friendship. Our non-fiction book club will be holding a discussion of the book on March 18 and in a nod to the fine art discussed in the book, Pop-Up Art School will be hosting paint events for both adults and students. The much anticipated highlight of Abington Reads 2026 will be the keynote address given by author Anthony Amore on Thursday, March 26 at 7 PM at the Abington Public Library. We have copies of the book available for checkout as well as digital and audio copies available on Libby. We always enjoy our One Book, One Community events and are truly looking forward to sharing this one with you.
Abington Reads is funded by State Aid to Public Libraries

Even More Info on the Big Changes to Come!
Trainings and Transitions, Oh My!
Our April newsletter should have even more information regarding the changes coming to our network operating systems, and we thank you for your patience as we work on our training to provide the most seamless transition possible.  Want to help?  You can start by making sure all your information (email, address, phone number) on your account is accurate and up to date.  We would also really love if you could get in the habit of having your library card on hand for ALL your transactions.  These small things will make a world of difference for us!
Things Will Look a Little Different
We really are excited about the new public catalog you will have access to beginning in late April.  It will be more visual, more interactive and, hopefully, more user friendly.  However, change can be a little daunting.  Want to get a sneak peek in advance? We suggest you have a look at some of the member libraries in the CW Mars network to get a general feel for what's to come.  Our sites will look a bit different but the basic functionality should be roughly the same.  We linked the Adams Library here to get you started!
CHILDREN'S DEPARTMENT
Catch that Leprechaun!
The leprechauns have been busy playing pranks.  Where else could all that snow have come from?  We need your help catching a leprechaun or two so we can politely remind them that we prefer pots of gold to pockets of cold.  Sign up now for our ever popular St. Patrick's Day Crafternoon where students in kindergarten and up can listen to some fun stories and then make their very own leprechaun traps.  The event is Wednesday, March 4 from 3:30-4:30 and regstration is now open.
Looking for more events? Our printable calendar has the days, times and descriptions of all our programs for kids and is available at the Children's desk!

Pop Up Art is Popping In!
The Abington Reads book this year is about stolen art, so we are inviting students ages 8 and up to register to create some fine art that will steal your heart. Pop Up Art School will be here on Saturday, March 14 from 2-3:30 to help students paint these little dinosaur masterpieces. Space is limited and registration is required!

It's Not Too Late to Donate
Stopping by the library to borrow some books or attend an event?   We are very pleased to partner with the Boston Bruins and Cradles to Crayons once again and it's not too late to drop a set of NEW children's pajamas in the donation box. Donations will be gratefully accepted through March 15.
ALL ABOUT TEENS
The Madness of March
March is the long month with no holidays, no vacation weeks and usually not great weather.  Therefore it is often the month of projects, papers and piles of work as teachers take advantage of the uninterrupted time to get some serious learning in.  Need a quiet place to stay focused?  We've got you covered.  Looking for books and resources?  If we don't have it, we can try to get it.  We just might need a day or two extra. Need a brain break?  We definitely can help there. Stop on by and let us know what you need so we can help.

FOR ADULTS
Books, Cooks, Crafts and More
March at the APL will be mostly about art, art thieves, detective work and...chicken.  Our Saturday book club will be keeping with the Abington Reads 2026 theme as they discuss the novel, The Art Thief. Pop Fiction is sure to enjoy the sleuthing of Harriet the Spy and Pop Up Art School is coming to guide adults toward creating their own personal masterpiece. As for the chicken, after having the soup-themed Cooking Night cancelled TWICE due to snow, it was decided that maybe a change of theme would bring us some weather luck.  We hope that isn't just wish(bone)ful thinking.
